  1. Ive never had a problem with sacking fish myself used to do it a lot in the 70's and earlier 80's but when other people had problems and it was really frowned on i became wary of doing it just in case, i sometimes do it now up to a couple of hr's but even then i'm constantly checking it but it is now a last resort.

  2. Sounds good, will have to meet up if you guys are localish. Wil deff bring it all even if overkill.

no fancy bait needed im sure, maize etc?

anything i should try and buy and bring?

Im from south coast nr Brighton..

Not far from me then i came from Hastings, i fished Piddinghoe Lake quite a few years ago not far from you.

While almost all is available here its on-line you wont find it in shops, apart from line and a few other bits.

  3. maybe too late , i took a kayak to Tahoe almost every week for a year, i don't believe there are any Carp in the lake. The water is extremely cold all year round and there is limited food. There are Trout and Char. The truckee river has many different fish, didn't see any Carp, there are many lakes around Reno that have lots of carp they are shallow and get warm in the summer. PM me if you want specifics.

Apparently chumming is legal in NV ive often wondered about that really big lake on the north side of 80 several miles out of reno going toward salt lake city. whether it has carp and camp/fish 24/7 is do able there.

  4. I did tell William about this, there was a news report where they had caught giant goldfish there and they were blaming them for the usuall problems, but on a trip there i met an eastern european guy who told me he catches carp and koi there in the keys at the south end, when you walk around there it looks very carpy especially on the channels where theyv not yet built houses on and have read about carp in the truckee river which is connected.

Also met a lady who fly fished for carp there, letting her "lure" fall down the cliff face into deep water, cant remember the name but its the area where the road goes through a tunnel right next to the water(NV side), she said they would take it on its way down. All this aside no reports of any realistic sizes

  5. Ive never gone out for goldfish but i have been lucky enough to catch a couple of big ones , the first one was 9lb 5 oz and i caught it in a deep clear lake on an 18mm boilie i could see it at least 10ft under the water whilst i was playing it and at first i thought it was a koi. I was informed afterwards that at that time the IFGA record was 6lb 5oz.

The second one i caught within a couple of months after from our local lake and went 7LB 9oz

It was a few years ago now though and pics have been posted before. A friend fishing the same place a few weeks ago caught sight of a large orange fish clearing the water and theres no coloured koi in this place we know of so it could well be the same one, small lake BTW.

  6. Thanks everyone...think I'll be looking at those cameras...don't like being in a rush handling fish, that's why I've never really messed with anything but mat shots in the past. That multiple shot on the timer sounds like just the trick to use and still be able to handle fish safely.

When you set it for 10 shots you can also set for up to 10 secs between each or less if your real quick, its kinda funny when you put the pics on the computer and go thru them quick you end up with a cartoon of yourself manipulating the fish.
