I too would go with 2 to 6 inch being short and 6 too 12 inch medium, ive found longer ones are better in mono or maybe fluoro just use a fine braid loop for hair. Tried a 3 foot one a while back with a pop up fished in current so it wafts around near the bottom, wicked for catfish so experiments with this went on hold

One problem ive had with beads on leadcore heli rigs is that they dont grip it enough to stop the fish moving the hook length up the line, best friendly cure ive found so far are those small solar beads. I put one on above a regular bead or a korda one with the groove, as these two are on the leadcore where the splice is it will grip enough but when pulled back they will slide up the rest of the lead core fairly easy and with a small amount of force will go over the top end too. This is one pain about not being able to go into a tackle shop and see before you buy.i also use the Korda buffer beads over the lead eye too.

Good that you got some Jeff even if small, i went to fish a place on part of that river a few miles upstream the weekend before last and you could see the bottom all over mainly 1- 2 ft deep with one run going around 3 ft deep and not a carp in sight.

One of the best eating in the water. I'm drewling..
Tom.
I wish someone would catch and eat them from our local, they are not as monstrous as craigs, had one chew off a rubber imitation boilie one time.

Good start keep at it.

If for arguments sake youve bought a 300 yd spool of braid, wind this straight onto 1 spool and top off with backing line then wind this back to other spool taking note how far up the spool the backing line comes.

Great trip with friends, what its about and PB's too, icing on the cake.

Shame CAG gets the rap on this one as none of us speak for CAG.
I DO NOT want to be part of anything that even hints at somehow supporting or using PETA in any way.

Just read the first post from the link and still don’t think anybody knows much how it works
By all the theories mirror and mirror carp will produce a bunch of common carp but few lakes in US like Blackfoot seem to have no commons at all even though they should have greater chance in survival
One thing i notice about blackfoot mirrors is that there seem to be a lot of fully scaled mirrors, i was allways under the impression that fully scaled are rare, maybe just a UK thing.
Due to a high number of them in Bl/Ft it makes me think that mirrors will breed more fully scaled ones and over subsequent generations the scales will gradually become more organised/uniform resulting in commons some time later on,rather than commons just appearing at some point.
Side note: if you want to catch a mirror or two get to Blackfoot before they all morph into commons LOL

Good day out, i am not very fond two stroke water flea's either.
-
Going way back they used to say that it was permisable for a small number of scales around the root of the tail for it to be classed as a leather, not sure if it would aplly the same with yours, there are extremists out there now that will say it has to have none at all.
Either way its a nice catch and as nearest thing to a leather as ive ive seen here.
