  1. If it is Blue Green Alge, the fish had no chance. I've seen the effects of it first hand. It kills everything. It sucks, but they are going to have to drain the lake, re-stock everything and take control of the Alge in future. I'm surprised that no one spotted the alge and reported it before it got this far?

  2. No dumping bait. The only bait is that is which is around your hook or lead. All baits must be fished (( on the bottom of the pond )). No float fishing or anything in between. :)

Now, having said that, you still might have a point there. Just cant see you attracting many fish with three maggots.

there are ways around it...no need for a float. you can just watch the elastic fly (I've done it before, lots of fun). Also How about if you stick a pva bag (maybe doubled or heavy ply so you can slide the pole out) on your hook? Maggots? I would use a pva bag full of puffs, boilies, whatever takes your fancy. Come on Tom, give it a go! You never know!

  3. No barbels (barbules for Keith Thompson) = goldfish.

Does it? How about if the Goldfish side took the barbels away. Hence a hybrid. Too straight forward an answer for such a weird fish MR. O :)

  4. Kev again so happy for you mate .... long time coming is an understatement! can you believe it tho ......pretty much by passing the 30's and almost doing a 40 in the first 6 hours of your sesh! i do believe the beauty of the bait had a say in it tho!!! :yourock::o:P

again huge congrats and well deserved man!

    Cheers.

Just make sure you've got some more for next weekend

  5. Nice going Kev, great fish pre and during.. but did you take that last pic of the fish at the dam this year ?

Yes, that pic was taken after the tournament, they were stacked up against the dam wall, on eachothers backs!

  6. Had a great week on the way and at Baldwinsville last week, it was my second time there and after fishing last year's tournament with Joel, I had been looking forward to it pretty much as soon as the season began for me this year. On the way up to b'ville with my partner for this year's event, Florin, we decided to stop for a few days at a reservoir on the way up, which turned out to be a great move. In the 2 days, we managed 5 fish, all over 20lb with Florin's biggest being 29lb and me upping my PB from 29lb to 39lb on the money.

Happy with our great results, we made our way further north on Wednesday morning to Baldwinsville. B'ville is a great place and I applaud everyone involved in setting this event up. They did a great job from start to finish.

Florin and I drew peg 42 (end peg). The morning of the tournament we arrived at our peg excited and set up ready for the tournament to start and by 9:02am Florin had a hook pull on a fish right before the net. We thought we were going to be on the fish straight away. Unfortunately the bite then stopped for most of the day and the strong winds and the rain had us running in and out of our bivvys to re-cast and throw a few balls of bait out. By the evening the rain had stopped and the winds calmed down and almost as soon as it did, the fish began again, not as quickly as last year, but we ended up catching around 15 fish by the time the morning came round including a few nice 20's we were happy that none of the other teams were uncatchable by that point, but we'd need a good second day to stand a chance. But the second day and night was slow for us to say the least, we tried everything we could, but could only manage another 7 or 8 fish The fish were just not anywhere to be seen, however to end the tournament on a happy note, I was woken up by a screaming run at about 3am which ended up being my fish American mirror weighing in at 20lb. We ended up with just over 200lb of well earned fish in the 50 hours, not a winning weight by a long way, but a great tournament none the less. It was great seeing some old faces and meeting some new ones and the fish there still fight harder than most places I have ever fished. Here's a few pics from the event.
