You guys are gonna have a great time. Get a nice big bucket of corn at the corn boil and use it to bait up your area. Pellets, range cubes ,boilies all work . If you have enough of them certainly use them to bait up with. I caught three fish at the last ATC and they were all on corn. as pat said lots will work, Tommy caught his fish and the big one on mainline pineapple. Others caught on the royal scopex and others have caught on the rosehip. I ll make an edumacated guess that what ever you put out there, if they are feeding you will catch on it. Use your packbait/method mix . i would try using it in concert with a hair rigged piece of corn , but having said that i would certainly also try using it with a pick up as that is the method you are comfortable using and detecting bites with . Most importantly go have fun and enjoy the company of your fellow carpers.
Hey Mark, Thanks for the kind words of encouragement .
I am looking more forward to meeting fellow carpers and fishing somewhere new than anything, of course a new PB and a BUFF(never caught one) would be nice!
Take care,
Chris C.

Rippin,
When are you heading out. About got things worked out with Cornbread. You got a radar detector? We might want to convoy with you once I finally talk him into it. I'm mentally twisting his arm as I type!!
Back to the bait. Everything I have read talks about baiting to draw the fish. Since I have gotten back in to the sport last spring, I haven't fished for any wild fish, only the pay lake variety. They're localized as you know and you can't cast in most of them without beaning a carp. Long years ago when dough was king, we didn't bait the places we fished. The places we fished were either rivers when they were running or the large compounds in places that naturally held fish. I also keep hearing about them liking large beds of bait and people throwing 2 kg of boilies and 2 kg of pellets in an area to draw. Is it a necessity to bait the spot? Has it been done so long at Town that it is a must to hold the fish?
Big Al
Hi Big Al , i am taking my whole vacation that week and the gentleman i'm going with says we are leaving sat afternoon 19th.
This will be a whole new ball of wax for me as you know i am small lake fisherman .
Hope y'all can make it out.

If I was you I'd use either Royal Scopex, Mainline Pineapple or Isotonic Rosehips
Scott is absolutely right you can catch on any bait in town lake. For what its worth I've caught most of my bigger fish on boilies but probably more fish on particles and range cubes.
But will they het PACKBAIT & PICK-UPS in town lake?

Anybody have any info or pics of the lake that you can fish the week of the ATC? It is my understanding you cannot fish Town Lake the week prior to the tourney?
Thanks,
Chris C.

Hi guys, Big Al and I are still tossing about the idea of fishing the ATC. We would have to purchace the proper fish handling gear and net, but that won't be a problem. A lot will depend on how well Al's knee heals between now and then. Can anyone post some pictures of Town Lake on the site? I just want to get an idea of the lay of the land and lake. You guys wouldn't object to a couple of old Ga. paylakers fishing out there would you? Thanks....Cornbread
Hey Cornbread, if y'all go you won't be the only Ga. paylaker(s) there.
Hope y'all can make it!

carpinbasser, Good Going Dude!!!
KEEP ON SLINGIN' BAIT, THE NAME OF THE GAME IS TO HAVE FUN! AND PB's WILL KEEP COMING YOUR WAY BRO!
I agree with Brian, it is an addiction AND a way of life!
I'm still trying to beat my PB of 31.7 caught way back in 1988, but thats what keeps me going back for more!
Heck last sat. night at the paylake i caught 3 carp and 1 bass and all 4 of them would not add up to 10lbs. But you never know what the next pull of the string may bring!!!
Tight Lines and Good Fishing!
