  1. I'm not a photographer, but do know what not to do by now. I often see pictures that need some TLC and always offer assistance. So if you need help don't hesitate to ask me.

I hope Jérôme won't mind posting his picture as an example..its published in NACA anyway.

Always sent the biggest photo file you got, Jérôme's was a very small file, I'm waiting for the original.

  2. Not sure about that Moon, but most definitely the carp must feel a whole lot better!

It was a memorable moment for sure, I hooked a few minnows before on my rig, caught a few pike, (retrieving my carp rig with a boilie that is), hooked a huge eel with corn and lets not forget the cast iron and hardwood bench that gave me an unforgettable moment as well.

  3. Yes Iain, for sure Danny should be worried, after the first movie clip I know nobody wants to be seen with anything Korda. Very true words were said about carpanglers with zero experience being 'hooked' with over the top, very expensive stuff.

Something I often mention while doing a presentation; '80% of the stuff offered for carpangling, will definitely catch carpanglers and maybe even carp too!'

  4. You're right, the 4/0 was bronzed, discolored and pretty badly bent..I also think I caught this carp within a short period after it was lost. A strange combination indeed,..2 good quality swivels and a snaplock with a piece of SpiderWire attached. I zoomed in a bit more, but it was not a perfect shot. You can see the discoloration though.

And we too had several recovered lost rigs, the most memorable also within hours of losing it. So its not unique, hooking the ring was though.

I don't think I will pull this off again!

  5. The most ridiculous photographs I've seen since the Nash cataloque.

It's really a shame after catching such a nice fish to 'rape' it using an ultrawide lens.

    :D

It's not a personal remark Tommy, but this subject has been posted so often in Holland and Belgium with always the same comments. The viewers here who are less eligible concerning 'trophy shots' would almost think somebody caught a 5 ft, 200 lb'er. :D b

We're neighbours by the way! I'm Dutch. :D

  6. Hi Scott,

Studying the fish/photo I found that as perfect a common it is , on one side...all scales lining up...the other side really NO scale did fit any pattern. I'm quite sure it is not a disease, but I never saw it as extreme as this one.

Miguel,... you caught my fish?? Never! :D I don't think you can catch it again, it's emigrated to Canada. :D

  7. Hi guys,

The 'scattered' scaled commons carry the recessive mirror gene, which is why they show these random scale patterns. Although we also call them 'commons', we have a special name for them in the Benelux.

Some carp have this scattered pattern all over their body, like the picture shows from this Larry carp.

But I would still call it a 'scattered scale common'.

  8. Isn't it a great feeling watching whales, dolphins, seals etc, especially from close up...this picture I took on the St Lawrence close to Tadoussac, on a trip with my son. Can you believe the river is ±20 miles wide there !!

I can recommend it to anybody. :D
