  1. Again, welcome to the CAG, I just joined last year myself and it has been the most important tool in improving my new passion, carp angling. I've had most luck at night, as this is when the fish seem more active in the places I like to fish anyways. I noticed you said you have Okuma Avenger reels.... I've got one of those which has been OK but a quick word of warning...... test the line to make sure it's on freespool to make sure it's actually in that mode once you flick the switch. Sometimes it doesn't engage for whatever the reason, if this happens just spin the spool a little bit and flick it again. Failure to do this may very well cost you your rod and reel! Jeff

  2. I love fishing eddys, they can have spectacular results at times. Think like a carp, LAZY, if they can get a break from the current they'll take it. Like Jerome said, go for where the water breaks pretty much, but I've had different results in the same spots on different days due to the river depths, flow, etc. Lots of experimentation is my best advice.

  3. Thanks for your hard work Jerome, all of your videos are always educational. Have you ever caught any when the water was colder like mid 30's temp? I've been told the cutoff water temp for fish activity is about 38 degrees, do you agree? Obviously the water is colder than that when ice fishing, but I think your last name has to be Osmond to actually get one LOL! I haven't been able to test it much this winter due to a new addition to the family this December! Jeff

  4. I'm a newbie to the sport of carpin' but have always been a fan of catch and release for any type of fishing. I guess it comes down to why we fish. I can only speak for myself, but it's a combination of fun, and sharing my progress and great pictures with others to promote the sport. Thus, a picture is good enough, as well as the peace of mind of knowing that that lunker will produce more just like it for us to catch in the future B)

  5. Hi all, this is my first fall/winter fishing, and I REFUSE to hang up my poles 'till spring! Thus, I'm on a quest to find new spots, and was wondering if prebaiting is as important in really cold water? If so, should it be heavy or light? I do mostly river fishing and like to use corn and chick peas. Thanks, Jeff
