They were feeding on the bottom and I threw several different nymphs at them and I also did try a crayfish pattern. I think I might add more weight as to slow down the drift even more.
If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

Hello to all,
I haven't posted in a long while but I still do read all the posts.
Well my schedule has let up enough to try Carp on the Fly again. There are carp in my local trout stream here in Northeast PA (Stroudsburg). The section I was fishing was slow moving water and crystal clear. I spent two mornings trying to get the carp take a fly but to no avail.
They were actively feeding but not on my flies. I can see now why some guys bowfish for carp (very frustrating).
Any tips?

South central PA. Not very sporting but I bet you could catch a lot.

I was out fly fishing for trout when I stumble upon some nice carp water with carp.
The area as best I can describe would be medium moving water (Brodhead creek)
about 40yards wide and several hundred yards long with water depth slowly increasing
form a few inches to 8 foot. I spotted and counted over 30 carp in one pod ranging in size
from 10"-20+". I was standing about 10 feet away and could have touched them with my rod.
They were bunched together and not moving much. They water was cold and they really
Didn't care that I was there. I would assume pre spawn but what do I know. Anybody want
To go fishing in the Poconos and learn me a thing or two?
Thanks for any help.

The Eastern part. I'm in Stroudsburg which is between Allentown/Bethlehem (to the South) and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (to the North).

I turned on the TV and started to channel surffing and came upon Sight fishing for Carp. I only caught the last minute of it. So I checked my guide and that was the last showing for this week and for this episode. Did anyone else see it?

The In-Fisherman staff takes a time out for super sportfish,
as they go snagging for paddlefish, wade for channel catfish, and sight fish for carp.

Does anyone fly fish for carp from some type of floation device? Or do you just use it as a means of travel to get where you're going. How much to you wade vs. float.
I've been thinking about a kayak but haven't made up my mind yet.
Winter is killing me.

Funny you should mention the Big D I was driving through the DWG and was looking at all the shallows. I've seen carp breach in the Brodhead and started to fly fish for them at that point in time (had a 4wt with me) so they are around. Have you tried Beltzville? I tried once for only an hour by the boat launch (off to the left side large shallow area) with no luck but hey what do I know

Thought I should say hello.
I've been lurking for the past couple of weeks just enjoying the stories and pic.
I'm still trying to hook up with my first carp (just need to be patient ).
I'm located in Northeast Pennsylvania (Stroudsburg). Anybody close by?

I bought one from Gander Mountain. I used it a couple of time for other species, no Carp yet but it's big and it completely collapses, and the handle can extend out.
