  1. Got some pics in today of recent catches before the gulf water temp plummetted too badly. Ocean temp here is now 50, a little north of here 41. Worst i ever seen it was 52. Targetted sheepsheads, i jigged pieces of dead shrimp in pilings and docks VERY SLOWLY. Also got mangrove snapper, black drum, cats and a surprise PITA fish.

  2. I got down here a bit earlier this year because my apartment is unlivable right now due to the de-leading of the paint, lead dust is not a healthy thing to breath in so what's a guy to do, go south and go fishing. I must say i did real good for only a 4 hour session. Incoming tide from 6 to 10pm using live shrimp on and near structure was the ticket.

Got a couple of these Toad fish.

  3. my 2 cents...

    1st pic - muddler

    2nd pic - mirror

3rd pic - common with unusually large yet uniform scales

    4th pic - common

5th pic - looks like a koi, could be a goldfish

6th pic - common with more yellow coloring than usual

    7th pic - common

    8th pic - common

sometimes sunlight or camera angles can change the coloring of commons and sometimes there are just varying degrees of colors on a common in a particular water, if you look closely, no one common looks exactly alike.

  4. You remind me of myself from 25 years ago. I had two 10 gallons, two 20 longs, a 40 and a 55, the coolest fish and best for your tanks are plecostamus, they eat algae, they are tough and they keep your tanks clean. Also, 20 percent water changes once a month to avoid nitrates and diseases and the most important thing to keep the tank healthy is sea salt. Don't overfeed too much or your water will get dirty too fast and clog your filters and don't forget to vacuum the rocks real well. Flourescent lights are better than incandescent lights. Oh yeah, watch the ph levels.

  5. Thats a very nice setup, i can tell you from past experience, the crayfish ALWAYS find their way out of the tank and once the cat gets big enough it will eat everything it can get it's mouth on. I once had a big bluegill that killed for sport too, unpredictable they can be, you'll have fun learning their behavior.
