  1. Very Germanic looking specimens - high shoulders and deep --- cool fish, keep up the good work :)

    Help.

Can you guys explain why these supposedly 'commons' look so strange to me?

You say 'shoulders'. They look hump backed to me.

I never saw one in Illinois rivers.

What are these fish, and where?

for me this is a normal 'common' foto

    Edward

it seems the river commons here look like that... long lean and powerful... but the lake carp just have these huge humps that make them just beasts... there are a few lakes in NC that i know have these big humps...

  2. Well i got off work at 3:00a.m. and was fishing by 7:00a.m., nothing much in the morning real slow... Good pal of mine (Mike) came out to keep me company, he is not a fisherman at all but he stops by the lake from time to time...

Travis (carp123) came by and we were chatting when my alarm went off... it was a 10.4 common... Nice little fish looked good...

A little later The Man (Jacob) showed up and was setting up his gear when Tim (UKTim) came walking up... right then my alarm went off again and it was a nice 13.4 common...

Very nice day to be fishing in NC not alot or really big ones, but the time we spend with friends is priceless...

Oh and I met Carpas, real nice to meet you bro...

  3. Well done man! I want to get a grass so bad but I dont think they are anywhere near where I am - do they fight any different? and what kind of baits would you use for those? - cheers man - shawn

they seem to have more jolt on them when the net gets close from what i have seen so far... very nice fish to catch...

  4. so me and Jacob were doing some scouting for new swims today and my brother in-law (Mike) called me... he said in his apartment complex there were three ponds with some nice grass carp... i asked Jacob if he wouldn't mind just stopping for a few moments he was cool with it so we did...

i did not have any rods or nothing but as usual Jacob carries a few in his truck at all times... i grabbed his ultra lite and off we went to this pond... i hooked one and it got off while Jacob was putting the net together... Jacob caught one, a little while later i caught one... my brother in-law hooked a huge grasser but it broke off right at the banks edge, it would have went over 20 pounds...

all in all not a bad birthday for just a short short time fishing...

this is Jacobs smallest grass carp ever, but it was a good hit off the top...
