The week of fishing was great we caught over 35 carp with one 29 lbs 3 at 28lbs one at 26 and one at 25.
All the kids in the family caught fish. Most of the big fish came on tutie fruite K1 largest size boilies but we caught them on K1 tutie fruite maze also. I am back in California and will go back to catching salmon until winter carp fishing. I want to thank Brid for all his great carp lessons.

The harbor is full of nice carp - one 29 lbs and one 28lbs. We are using calf mana pack bait with tutie fruitie maze. The carp spawn has not started yet and the water is cool. The kids are having a great time and are not all hooked on carp fishing. The ages are 5 to 15 and they are looking forward to the rest of the week carp fishing.

I am going to a family reunion in New Buffalo, Mich and we we will be fishing the harbor for carp. Three years ago we caught a lot of carp with Calf Mana pack bait and tuitie fruitie maze. I wanted to know if the carp are spawning in the harbor. I may have to make other plans for the 10 kids who love to catch carp. I know the spring has been very cold in the Midwest and I hope the water is still to cold. If any one wants to stop by to catch some carp let me know.

Thanks Daniel:
I hope that you are correct and that the water stays cold and they wait till the kids catch some carp then they can spawn. Thank you for your help.
Jeff
Hi Jeff.
Here in Michigan they spawn early-mid Jun. But with the winter been so long and cold we hope it will push it to mid-late Jun. -
Hi Michigan carp fisherman.
I am from Iowa and moved to California and now I am going back to New Buffalo Mich. for a family reunion from June 7th to the 14th. I fished here 4 year ago and caught some great carp with Tuttie Fruitie maze with the kids. This year I will be fishing with the kids again and I hope it goes as good as it was last time. My question is with all the cold rainy weather is the water going to be to cold or are the carp going to be spawning in the New Buffalo harbor. If any one lives close to New Buffalo I would like to go carp fishing with 10 kids let me know. Any help you can give me on the carp spawning time of year would be a great help.
Thanks

Salmon season is back in Santa Cruz and the weather has been great. The ocean has been calm and the salmon are biting anchovies. I have fed over 20 of family and friends - I have a lot more friends during salmon season.

Now that is a great weekend.

That is great info - I will pass it on to the lake.
Jeff
If they succeed in drastically reducing the carp population in the lake the algae problem will get worse. This happened on Lake Susan in Minnesota http://www.startribune.com/local/west/55219002.html?refer=y and is happening here in the harbour I fish

Now that all that bad stuff out out the way the next fishing trip should be great.

I have never fished this lake for carp but I have heard they have a lot of carp from other local anglers. Brid told me if you thin out the carp numbers the remaining carp have a chance to grow up to be huge. I may have to go fish this lake in a few years to see if I can find any big ones.

WATSONVILLE -- Pinto Lake's carp better watch out: The city has put a price on their heads.
The bottom feeders have been found guilty of contributing to the long-standing problem of toxic algae blooms in the lake on the rural outskirts of Watsonville. By offering a 25-cents-per-pound bounty, the city hopes to reduce their numbers.
Robert Ketley, the city's water quality specialist, said studies have found carp play a significant role in releasing algae-fueling phosphorous into lakes.
"They suck mud up, suck out the insect larvae and spit out the phosphorous with the sediment," he said. "It's an incredibly effective way to get phosphorous out of the sediment and into the water column."
Nitrogen- and phosphorous-laden sediments, deposited in the lake 50 to 100 years ago, are the main culprits in providing nutrients for algae growth, according to a 2012 study.
Typically, the first hints of algae growth don't appear until May, but this year, thanks to the warm, dry winter, researchers spotted the signs in February.
The California Fish and Wildlife Service has delayed annual trout stocking at the lake until local officials can prove the algae isn't going to make the fish dangerous to consume. Ketley said he planned to take samples to a UC Santa Cruz lab Tuesday and expects results in the next few weeks.
Officials advise against eating carp and other resident fish, but Ketley said he believes since the stocked trout are
Advertisementquickly caught and so don't spend much time in the lake, there shouldn't be a problem with them. He said he hopes the lake can be stocked in time for an annual fishing derby in May.

Sorry to hear about your skunk but you will get them next year. Went to the cabin in Tracy a few weeks ago for a skunk - so many weeds in the water that fishing was not going well so I left after a few hours. I did stop in a visit Mick(baitbucket) at the lake he fishes and saw him catch a nice carp. Good luck on your next carp adventure.
Thanks

Hi Brid:
I saw your are 40 to 1 to win the whole thing. I would bet 10 bucks on you but my bookie does not take carp bets.
Jeff
Met most of the competition at the corn boil. Great to see Mrs (Nikki) Sprinkle anywhere but butt freezing Michigan, looking like she'll throw a few on the bank and keep her end of the bargain up -- as for the rest -- we got you covered
Good luck to all, -- see you bright and early!!
Tight Lines,
Brid.

Way to go Mick - If I was not such a sissy I could have been there with you. Next year I may try the cabin.

I love reading the FFF reports. I may have to try it next year.
Thanks Jerome.

Hi Jerome:
Thanks for the laugh - I have forgotten so many things when I go carp fishing and I am glad I am not alone. Have you posted the FFF results yet?

Had a great time on the ocean - we got a limit of crab - yum yum. This is the first time we have ever had the chance to net some squid and we filled up a 50 quart cooler - we will use the squid as bait. The biggest ling cod was 10 lbs and the biggest rock cod was 3 lbs. We only have 3 more weekends of ocean fishing and then it is time for carp.
Jeff

We are on our second week of crab season and the eating is great. This is the best rock cod trip this year the blue rock cod are big - 1 to 3 lbs - yes that is big for blue rock cod. If you ever get the chance to eat dungenes crab you have to try it. These crabs are sweeter than the king crab but about one forth as big.

I wish I could get more but I think it was Andy who was raising money for the club and I only bought one gar of that flavor and one gar of the fire stuff. If anyone whats to sell some let me know.
Jeff
who makes this wild peach berry?
-
I fished last weekend by Tracie, Ca in the delta. I only caught 2 fish under 15 lbs. I only have half of the wild peach berry maze left. I chummed the carp in with Old Roy dog food from Walmart and bird seed boiled in sugar water. I went with my girl friend and she got to catch her first fish and now she can not wants to go again. I am going back this weekend for some more carp. Salmon fishing is over and this is the best year for salmon since 1987.
