Jerome - I fed about 10 people with the 1/3 I got from the 3 fish.
Fog - a guy caught a 45 lb and a 50 lb on his Kayak - I do not know how he did that but they only about 1 mile off shore. I say his picture in the paper with both fish.
Zoomie - I like to fish both salt and fresh water - but salt water is a lot more work but you get to eat the fish. I always release all fresh water fish.

I went fishing for White Sea bass out of Monterey Cal this past weekend and caught 2 white sea bass 35 and 45 lbs. These fish can fight and will test your drag on your reals. The white sea bass are a schooling fish so we caught all 3 in 45 min. All we are using fresh squid and no weight - they call it fly lining. My Friend Don caught the other 35 lbs white sea bass. Minnow Magnet was down at the harbor so I called him over to take a look at the fish and he wants to try fishing for WSB. It was nice to see Justin (minnow magnet) this weekend and hope to see him again at my little carp lake.

Justin:
I think it was 32lbs 4oz. Nice fish - I hope you can catch a bigger one this week. I have never fished the little lake at night hat we have fished together but I may have to try that after hearing about your biggest carp. Let me know when you may come down and fish the little lake with me.

Great story - I can feel your pain - Bill Clinton quote. I lost a pole for 1 hour but got lucky and snagged the line and it still had the 10lb carp on the hook - the reel has never been the same.
Thanks for sharing the story.

Hi Phone:
Salmon can be released from any depth - they do not have air sack like rock fish. If the fish are under 24 inch you can not touch them and we only use barbless hooks. I do not have big bucks but my friend owns a boat and I own the tackle. I only live 2 miles from the Santa Cruz harbor so it does not coast that much to go fishing.
Jeff
ZZZZZZZZZZZ,Can these fish be released? Is the air sac completely obliterated when you land them. Does the flesh stay "solid". I've little or no experience sea fishing except the few times I was the guy paying the big bucks.

The salmon are still biting in Santa Cruz so I have not been carp fishing. We caught the fish 240 and 280 feet deep. Both fish were about 12 lbs each so they are the smallest salmon of the year for us but hey still taste good.

Hi Edward:
Nice fish
Do not take the mat thing to heart. I do not have a mat or a net but I do not take the fish out of the water or take pictures. Phone gave you some good advice about it is only a fish but some people think it is a delicate flower and must not be touched. Carp are very strong and have thick scales that so I am sure they are just fine.

The salmon bite is on again in the Monterey Bay. We got lost (gps - no satellites) so we just started to fish in 330 feet of water all by ourselves. The salmon fleet was about a mile away and we had our own little school of fish. We caught 5 salmon from 15 to 20 lbs - yum yum. We caught them 330 feet on the down rigger using Herring as bait and trolling. Long day and my arm hurts from cranking a 10lbs weight up from 330 ft deep. So we did ever thing wrong - wrong place - wrong depth - wrong bait - but it all worked out great and we caught the most fish out of 50 boats.

Nice pics MM. I have been catching some carp and tench at the little lake but not big ones - 10 to 15lbs. The salmon and rock cod have been OK but the tuna are only 100 miles from the harbor so I hope they come closer. When are you coming down to fish with me again.

I would think about 400 hours total - 200 hours of carp fishing and 200 hours of ocean fishing. I only fish 4 or 5 hours while carp fishing but 8 hours on the ocean - 3 weeks ago we caught 7 salmon in one day. I would fish more but the ocean fishing is closed from Dec 1 to April 1 every year. I am not keeping up with this crowd - I think I will have to dump the girlfriend and send my kid to a boarding school - stop working - live under a bridge - then I can fish 2000 hours!!!!!
Fisherwood -Elcapenmas- and Zoomie are my heroes.

Nice job Justin. That looks like fun.
I went Salmon fishing on Sat. and got 2 - 17lbs and 16lbs
Sunday I caught 1 tench and one big carp that went under the dock and broke off before I could see him.
I got new carp gear but I have not tried it yet. The water temp is 69 and I think the spawn is on.
Can you make a couple of the hair rigs with short hairs for plastic corn.

Great story. That river has so many carp in it that I used to give people carp when I fished in Iowa. I would release them now but back in the day I gave many carp to people and did not see the harm in it.

Hey MM:
I just spoke to Brid last night and he does not have a way to get online in TX. He has been fishing in TX and he caught a 47 lb buffolo.

Thanks for the tour and pics it sounds like you had a great trip

Great Video - is this in a river - the water is very clear. Thanks for sharing - very entertaining

They look great to me. I need to learn how to tie those. Brid tried to show me but that was after 2 whiskeys and it did not stick in my little brain. I like the bottom one the best - I do not like my hook to touch the bait.

I fished with sweet corn for years and caught my 2 biggest carp on it but now I fish in a place that has a lot of tench and I can not use sweet corn now. I use maze and boilies now and I have caught bigger fish on the boilies than on the maze. I just make my own boilies and they seem to not catch as many tench or small carp. If I did not have so many tench I would just use sweet corn.

I hope it is not too late to add the Captain to my dream team. The Capitan is going to help my nephew (who lives in Atlanta) and his 3 boys catch carp. I salute the captain.
