  1. On June 18th which is a saturday we will be holding a fish in at Lake Somerset in Somerset,PA The official time will be from 7am till 7pm but you can fish before or after those times. You can also fish the previous days before and after the event. The fish in will take place to the right of the concrete pier and extend to the right the whole way down to the other end of the point.

You can find some info about the lake here. http://www.fishandboat.com/water/lakes/somerset/00somerset.htm There are some overhanging trees so come prepared in case you need a shorter rod but you can cast in between any limbs that may cause issues. The fish range up to 37lbs and a good average fish is around 17lbs. The last fish in that was held there had a 26lb fish caught for the big fish. Prebaiting will take place a few days before the event and a few hundred pounds of bait will go in all along the fishing area.

There are hotels and places to eat nearby as well. There is a walk from the lot to the fishing around around 75 yards so please keep this in mind. Brian Wingard , Bill Devine and Joe Gorden will be assisting me in helping out.

There are some strict rules on the lake such as no shelters of any kind such as brollys or umbrellas. There are no fires allowed or bankside cooking. We expect you to keep the area clean. This is a game commission headquarters lake so there will be wardens around to check licenses I am sure so please keep this in mind.

If you follow lake road to wood duck road keep driving until you see the parking lot to your left. You walk down to the lake and turn right. At that point you can see the pier and we will be fishing past there.

If you plan to attend or if there is a chance you can attend please add your name so we can get a good estimate of people attending. Thank You Ryan Simpson

  2. If you go to one of the bigger craft stores and look around the ( I guess needle art) area they have plastic sheets that look like a grid. The holes are small enough that you can cut them apart to make the bar bell shape for a bait stop. They come in a few different colors also.

  3. Hello my name is Ryan Simpson. I've been a guest on CAG for awhile and because of the new improvements, I have recently purchased a membership. Ever since I started carp fishing I've tried to promote catch and release of all sizes of fish. I've been a resident of PA for two years now. Originally from NC, I've made good friendships with a lot of carp fisherman across the state. I've noticed that there haven't been many fish-ins taking place anymore and there hasn't been a PA State Chair for some time now. I would like to address the board of CAG to apply for a state chair position. I plan to hold events on both sides of the state to make it easier for members to attend. I know with the way the economy and gas prices are today, it is hard for people to participate in their passions. I want to do what I can to make it easier for carp fisherman to enjoy fishing without going broke. I've been working with my good friend, Brian Wingard to help me plan and promote events on the west side of the state. I will plan and set up events on the east side of the state. My ultimate goal is to help promote CAG, increase membership and good carp fishing in general. Thank you for considering me for the state chair. Ryan Simpson
