  1. As Alex has said, the Windcast is a very good reel. I've caught 2 30's and multiple twenties on them along with 100's of carp for the past 2 years. They haven't missed a beat yet!

  2. Hey carppielooker I am in Toledo and always looking for advice on where to fish locally. I recently caught 1 carp at the toledo boat ramp by the zoo. Any suggestion for location on the maumee for area lakes?

    Thanks

Here is something from earlier in the thread. Hope this helps.

Another place that might be of interest to you is the Maumee River. I have never fished there before, but CAG Ohio has held an event there. Here is a map of the area they fished. Click Here Also, here is a video of the inlet.

  3. Sounds good Andy! Also, there have been Mirror Carp in the mid 20's to come out of this 14 acre lake. It used to be a catfish paylake years ago. I would assume that over the years a lot of "Israeli Mirror Carp" bait fish were thrown back in the water when the catfishermen were done with them.

  4. Amazing pics Vince !!!!

Did you edited pics to panoramic or phone has this option?

My phone has an option for panoramic shots. You start out with one photo and move the camera up, down, left or right and it automatically takes another photo when everything is lined up correctly. You can stop the process whenever you want, up to 6 photos.

  5. Here is a photo I took a couple weeks ago of Osprey Lake. Coincidentally this lake has a huge head of Mirror Carp. (Photo taken with Droid X camera phone.)

  6. Hello Dave,

Welcome to the CAG forum! I'm actually not too familiar with the northwest part of Ohio when it comes to Carp fishing. To my knowledge, the only fish-in to the northwest has been on the Maumee River in Toledo at International Park. I had posted some information for a fellow member who lives in Findlay. (Brian - FishermanSudit) "Here is a map of the area they fished. Click Here Also, here is a video of the inlet.

Looks like you have a nice river system that could produce some large, hard fighting fish located in Defiance and just to the south where the river widens. It's getting a bit late in the year for Carp fishing around Ohio. Find yourself a warm water discharge located on the river and you may be in luck.

Again, Welcome to CAG! (I sent you a PM.)

    -Vince

  7. Hello Ohioans,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be resigning from the State Chair position at the end of the year. I'm posting it now to give anyone the opportunity to take over the role before next years events.

    Thanks,

    Vince Shiflet

  8. Awesome Rick! After last years Cowan trip I knew Cody was a die-hard carp fishermen. I think you guys fished all the way through the night while everyone else tried to get some sleep and get away from the mosquitoes. Again, awesome job!

  9. Hello ReturningCarper! Welcome!

Pete & John - Glad you found the site. There is a ton of information on this site to help get you started. Get down the basics of euro carp fishing, experiment with different bait recipes and have confidence when fishing and you'll be on your way to catching a lot of fish! Hope to see you at some future fish-ins.

  10. Back from another CAG Ohio fish-in. We had a decent turnout with 8 or so anglers showing up between Friday morning through Saturday evening. Fishing was fairly good on Friday but came almost to a halt at sun rise on Saturday.

Rick with a nice fish. I believe this one was right around 20lbs

Thanks to everyone who made it out!

Plans on fishing the Great Miami may be changed to another location. I talked to Rick while at the fish-in and we may change it to a location that holds some larger fish. Any input on locations would be appreciated. We could always do Griggs again :D

  11. CAG Ohio - Griggs Reservoir

    June 10-11, 2011

    Directions: HERE

We will be fishing to the north of the Fishinger bridge at Griggs this time. If you want to break your PB, this is a great place to do so! 20's, a 30 and a 40 were caught last year from this location so it is a hot spot for large fish.

I will likely be there early Friday morning so feel free to come out.

I will be there around 4 or 5pm Friday.

    See you on the bank!
