  1. Hello everyone!

I figured now is a great time to get some input on next years fish-in schedule since this year has come to an end. I would first like to get some input on the East Harbor and West Branch locations. It seems like these are favored spots that produce some quality fish. Would everyone like to see these locations make a return in the months of April and May?

Next would be Cowan Lake. We had an amazing turnout this year and a ton of fish were caught in the process. Would everyone like to see this return to the schedule as well or maybe something else in the southwest part of Ohio? This would be scheduled in June.

July and August would then follow. With the lackluster turnout in August and very hot temperatures during both months I am considering not scheduling any fish-ins during this time period. We did have Cowan during the early part of July and from what I remember, the temperatures were bearable. I can't say the same for the mosquitoes. I want to say August is definitely out of the picture. Any input on a potential early July fish-in in the southwest region would be great. Maybe Loramie can be given life again?

September - I am thinking of a central-ish Ohio event. George had mentioned something about Knox Lake. I checked Google maps and there is a peninsula located in the middle of the lake that could potentially hold a fair amount of anglers. There is also Kokosing Lake in the same area. Looking at the map, this seems to have a huge amount of bank space as well. Maybe we try both and schedule one of them for October as well.

That would make 2 events to the north, 2 to the southwest and 2 in the central part of Ohio. Of course, any input is always welcome.

This is just a rough draft with no dates set in stone. I really would like everyone to give some input though. If you have a location that you think would be optimal for a particular time of the year, please let us know.

Gary had also mentioned the thought of discussing the schedule during the social gathering at BW3's. This would give everyone the opportunity to voice their opinions and find out the best possible dates for the fish-ins. What does everyone think of this? Would you rather the schedule be made early or wait a bit longer so everyone can discuss it in person. You guys are the ones that are attending so I want to make the schedule based on what you want. Thanks for any information you can provide!

  2. Hello fellow Ohioans,

Welcome to the Meet and Greet section of the Ohio forum. This will give those from Ohio a chance to post some information above themselves and get to know everyone a bit better.

I'm from Reynoldsburg, Ohio but fish all around the state. I grew up fishing Buckeye Lake with my grandpa mainly fishing for whatever would bite. It seemed like I would always have a rod with rye crisp or wheaties in hopes of catching a carp. I became serious about carp fishing in the middle of 2009 so I'm fairly new to the Euro part of it. I spend just about every Saturday or Sunday fishing, so if you'd like to get together sometime send me a message and we can arrange something.

    Hope to hear from everyone.

    -Vince

  3. Welcome! Glad to see another Ohioan interested in the sport. We actually have a fish-in coming up in the southwest region of the state July 9-11th at Cowan Lake. More information can be found in the Ohio Valley section of the forum. Should have a pretty good turnout and a lot can be learned at these gatherings. If you have any questions about the event or carping in general feel free to PM me.

  4. Welcome Katie! Our next scheduled fish-in is at East Harbor on Lake Erie. Would be nice to see you make it up. More information can be found HERE (I'm sure you have already taken a look at it.)

Here are some links to previous reports at East Harbor

A LOT of fish are caught each year! Hope to see you there!

  5. Didn't catch anything on the 1st, but did manage to catch one around 10:30pm on 12/31. Water temperature was around 42ºF at the Great Miami River here in Ohio. The fish weighed in at a whopping 5.5 lbs!! :yourock: Had a great time, but I am now paying for it with a cold

  6. So I bought this new phone (HTC Touch Pro 2) and there is an application where you can stream live video to the internet. I was thinking about streaming some fishing. I need to find a way to get my camera to stay stationary so I don't give everyone motion sickness. The quality isn't all that great, but it is watchable. It seemed like a cool idea if anyone was interested in watching. I will likely be fishing tomorrow (Thursday) at 5:30 pm EST and also on Thursday after 2 pm EST.

What does everyone think? Does anyone spend enough time on the computer to actually watch a guy fish for a few hours or more? I mean it could get boring if there is no action

Here is a test video I filmed just the other day.

  7. once i had a hook pierce the webbing between my thumb an index finger... i had to cut the eye off an pass it all the way threw... it really sucked.

I could just imagine how bad that would hurt. I have a pretty severe case of "webbing" between my fingers. Paper cuts were always bad, a hook would be a nightmare. (btw, yes, I am a good swimmer.)
