  1. I had a great time, and between the good weather, good company, and decent fishing it will be hard to top it this year. I too want to thank Larry for going out of his way with his FEASTS, and thanks to Bob for organizing the event.

    I'm pumped for Saginaw!

  2. As Vince said, I'll be there, poor weather or not. Got a new rainsuit over the winter, good boots, and a new freshly seam-sealed tent! In addition, I may bring a kayak to paddle my bait waaaaaaaay out, as ridiculous as that sounds lol. I've never been to East Harbor specifically, so I'm looking forward to it weather aside. I have been out on a walleye fishing charter that left from Port Clinton, however, and I can vouch for the Best Western Hotel there as being a nice, clean place to stay.

    Hoping for a decent turnout!

  3. Overall, I agree with the choice to make some parts of the forum members-only areas. I do however feel like one valuable change could be made, and that is with regard to official regional "Fish-In" event threads. To those that might say all the necessary info is contained in the calendar, I disagree. I think most have seen last minute changes made to group events with regard to specific locations, weather, bankside cooking, etc. in the events respective thread.

I stand behind keeping the majority of the regional forum hidden, so that well-developed or well maintained swims aren't made too popular and ruined, among other values.

However, I think if a thread is made regarding an official "Fish-in", by a state chair, it should be viewable by guests. In my experience the way the majority of new carp fisherman are exposed is by noticing local group events, or at least meeting local anglers fishing for carp. Making the group event threads available would undoubtedly promote the CAG goals of "assisting others and encourage them to join us", and "sharing with others".

All that said, I'm not currently a paying member, and at this point there is really no reason for me not to be. I do think all the talk of using the funds to pay site-hosting fees, and NEEDING the money are a bit silly. I know how little hosting costs are, especially with a relatively lightly-loaded site such as CAG, and I think quite a bit could be done through additional advertising without being intrusive on site use. That is assuming the interest for advertising exists. I feel there are better means of funding CAG, and perhaps more member input could be utilized before implementing changes.
