  1. Since September the sturgeon fishing has been really good, and has gotten even better. The lower Columbia exploded with quality fish in size and number and so has the Willamette.I had the visit of Wayne Boon. Sturgeon was on his bucket list, so I put him on some fish. He did very well landing fish over 50".

    Enjoy the pics, take care,

  3. Hello everybody,

As I said before the Columbia River is a gold mine, and if you dig a little bit you might find some surprises. Two days ago I went up to Woodland, an area that I didn't know at all. I found a road that took me to the river and discovered about five miles of beach on the mighty Columbia. I didn't know where to set up, so I drove along the beach and found some pilings in the water, that was cutting down the current. I sat down and looked at the water for a while asking myself if I should fish or not. I didn't see activity of any kind, so I went to my car and picked up my rod just to check the bottom. I found about ten to fifteen feet deep of sandy bottom. My decision was made, I'll give it try. I made my mix and bated up a few balls and spread some maize around. I casted my rod out on top of that, and sat down under a 97 degree sun. Good thing the area was very windy, so you could not feel the heat as much. After three hours I really started wondering if I had made the right choice. I was really thinking about leaving the area and going back to Oregon. So I went back to my car to add some mix in my bucket, so everything would be ready when I wanted to go. As I got back to my spot my rod was bent in half and my reel was screaming. I picked it up but the fish had already gotten into a weed bed and unhooked. It didn't really matter, I knew now that they were there. I casted back out and ten minutes later, a screamer. It took me back into the weed and broke my fifteen pound leader. I switched to twenty pounds with a pop up and maize, and that's when it all started. I had fourteen runs and landed twelve fishes. It was a great day at the new spot, enjoy the pics.
