Orchie,
With the cooler weather moving in the fish should move to the main parts of the lake and out of the arms. Bidwell Point is where I would start this time of year most likely by the bridge. You are right, lakes like this you could spend the rest of your life trying to figure out.
I'd ask the locals where they see the fish while out fishing for other species also.
Once you get a feel for it let me know and I'll hook up the boat and come over and do a session with you.
Good Luck man!
cheers for the advice david, once i get a bit more settled i'll let you know and we can get a session sorted, there is a few lakes near me which i like the look of, fourche lake mo. clearwater lake mo and mccormack lake mo, not had a good look yet but if i get any results i'll let you know

If you decide to go to Forsyth, upper Bull Shoals, look for a level of 654' and bring corn for chumming. It can be fantastic there at times.
thanks for the advice swmo, when i do get to wet a line i'll let you know of the outcome

I've never fished Norfork, but I've spent a lot of time on Bull Shoals and Table Rock. All the lakes in the White river watershed have a lot of carp in them and they act much like they are suppose to. The upper ends of any incoming creek or river is generally good, around active docks has always been good for me also. By active I mean a lot of people traffic. The upper end where the North Fork enters should be good in hot weather because its a cold stream.
thank you for your advice swmo, greatly appreciated. i plan on taking a look at bull shoals and table rock too, i have to get a driving license first never thought i would be taking another driving test. tight lines sir.

Hello Orchie,
You should be in a great area to carp fish.
Taneycomo at Branson is worth a look. Fellows lake just north of Branson is good. Had mid 20's there years ago. Phone even caught a few there!
I'm about 2.5 hours east of those areas. Shoot me a PM and maybe we can meet up some time.
Good Luck and let us know how you do.
cheers for the pointers david, will be in touch, its my first afternoon on here so just finding my bearings, also only been stateside for 3 weeks as well tight lines mate.

Welcome to the forum. I can't help you as I am from Canada but I am sure others will.
hi there, went to canada back in 1996, fished for carp in trenton ontario, lake skugog ontario, the welland canal ontario, had lot of decent fish up to high 20's and one of the best holidays i have ever had.

hi everyone, just moved to missouri from england, i brought all my carp tackle to try to catch some of the big carp i had heard about. i live 20 miles from the arkansas/missouri border near west plains and i'm looking for any tips on where to start looking, back in england i'm used to having waters right on my doorstep so the vastness of the area i now live in is a bit daunting, i have been carp fishing for about 20 years now so if anybody has any questions about tactics or rigs i would be pleased to help out if i can, tight lines to you all
