  1. I really want to go out again for some nice carp but can u still catch them even with this heat because I went to a canal 2 weeks ago and they were all spawning on the surface..can u still catch them in this weather? Or should I wait till the tempature drops a few degrees?

  2. Hey guys I've been fishing for carp mostly in canals and rivers..and I want to try a lake, there is one buy my house..can anyone give me tips on any household foods or grocery foods I can use for chumming..I have boilies but limited I need to stock up on some so I don't want to chum those..I went for a little bit today and mixed oats with cream style and chilli powder rolled them into golf size balls and chinned every 1h and I had no hit..and also I'm using a cage feeder but my mix won't come off the feeder even after the rod has been in the water for a few hours any ideas of it breaking down faster?...

  3. I used to fish the des planes, then I stopped and I started back up again..problem I'm having is the current keeps taking my line out constantly..idk if I'm using the wrong setup or rigs but to describe what I'm using now is a wire feeder (medium) a 2oz pear weight and a standard hair rig..every time I cast out after about 20min my spool is letting line out...is there anytime of tackle or setup I can use to avoid snags or current?

  4. Anyone know of any lakes that hold decent size carp? Most people I've talked too they say most of cook county lakes hold carp around 5-10lbs..I'm looking for the 20-30 range :) any suggestions?

  5. I went out yesterday and mixed oats..creamstyle corn..and a little bit of chilli powder but for sone reason it took me forever to get it to the right consistency because when I poured te cream style in ..i might have put to much because I wish mixing for a good 20-25 min before I can put it on my feeder...it works thought got a nice 15.3lb :)

  6. Isint chilli powder better in the winter because of it's spices? but either way both cinnamon and chilli powder can be good attractors.. and let's say I use a 15m pop up pineapple boilie, I can just pour pineapple flavoring on my method mix? Would that affect anything since the mix has it's own scent?

  7. I been using a method mix that I made my self and I'm having trouble with it because it dosent break down fast enough and other times i would cover my hook bait into the feeder and after 2 hours I reeled in to rebait and the hook was still molded on the feeder and the method mix did not break down at all.

    Here's my ingredients...

    Into a blender..

    Quick Oats

    Corn Grits

    Corn Flakes

Is there any other ingredients I can add to make it more attractive? And how can I make it to break down after 5 min?

    Thanks

  8. hi..im looking to go out tommorow after work and i was wondering if a anyone knows a good lake in the southwest suburbs?

i usally go on the ship and sanitary but with the weekend it will be alot of boat traffic so thats not going to work..

    any suggestions??

  9. see I would have a helicopter rig with a fox paste bomb but I think the current would just pull my method mix off the paste bomb once it hit the bottom so I'm thinking of using just a caged feeder maybe that would help

  10. I fish the ship and sanitary canal in willow springs 95% of my time and I fished it all June & July..I've used pips, pineapple boiles tutti frutti hemp seed corn and nothing..is there something I'm doing wrong or do I need to chum..with chumming thou I think it's pointless because there is alot of boat traffic and it will all stir up underwater..any suggestions ???

  11. I hear the lemont quarries if your familiar with that area there are 2 or 3 lakes on the left when your driving in and there is a dead end up the road and there is a lake on the left with a boat launch and I have friends that mainly go there to catfish and they have seen huge carp in there ..I been there once and haven't had any luck plus the wind speed was at 24 mph that time

  12. Hey Tracy how's it going...yea I've been to the Illinois river before and I seen them getting pulled out from there, I usually don't fish lakes mostly the des plaines river and the ship & sanitary canal but there is a local bait shop by my house in bridgeview called JJs Bait and Tackle and there are alot of guys that go there to get their bait for crappie and bluegill and when sag quarries had there trout opener this year there have been alot of sightings of very large grass carp but yet you have to take that with a grain of salt, but anyway a guy was fishing for tout that day and he hooked into a 25lb grass carp and he actually brought it in to the bait shop to weight but because he dident have a scale..they sId it was bleeding very bad and after words it died :( I don't know why they dident release it so sad...but yea I'm gonna go after work today and chum out more bait and Friday after wrk I'm gonna give it a try see what happeneds

    Take Care...Andy
