  1. Olcott Beach is closing the gap! they made up 1000 votes from this morning. at this rate, they'll have overtaken Waddington by this time tomorrow.

exactly! CAG has what? Over 4000 members? If they each just voted a couple times, that would be the difference between lime-light for carp angling, or settling back in the shadows of the bass and walleye and salmon and trout..etc...etc..

  2. Yes I was talking about the fish! LOL

Listen up, guys and gals! We need votes. Our lead is slipping away by the hour. If you have successfully voted and verified your email address, please forward the address here and we will make sure your votes get in every time block: uft13694@gmail.com

Thank you, it means a lot to us. This is our second --and last--chance to make the World's Carp Capital into the Ultimate Fishing Town USA. Please help us make this dream come true! Like I said, this is our LAST chance, as Waddington will not compete again next year if we do not win this one. ALL UK carpers...all carpers across the world for that matter should be contributing to this pivotal opportunity for carp angling. Please advertise this to the max over the next two weeks.

  5. Waddington endorsed by fishing legend Don Meissner, host of PBS's Streamside with Don Meissner:

“Waddington to me epitomizes the ultimate fishing town. I chose it for my own personal place to fish. It’s beckoning; it’s peaceful and right on the waterfront in a beautiful 1800s setting. Also, it’s home to the best muskie, walleye and northern pike fishing. Let’s not forget it has been chosen as the carp fishing capital of the world,” Mr. Meissner said.

Hello again from Waddington and the St Lawrence River!

We weren't happy with second place last year, so the World's Carp Capital is at it again! We are trying to win the title of Ultimate Fishing Town USA. We love carp anglers here in Waddington, and we love sharing our river with you. So, we're hoping you'll return the love and vote for the World's Carp Capital as the Ultimate Fishing Town USA.

    What we get:

    (1) a $25,000 community donation to be used for fishing related causes--and anyone who has seen our civic center that we use to host tournaments...well, this money would go far in the upgrade department.

    (2) a TV spot devoted to fishing in Waddington, filmed, produced and aired by the World Fishing Network (WFN). This would, of course, have to include carp angling!

    (3) National exposure for our town as a premier fishing destination.

    (4) We have included the Wounded Warrior project in our nomination--the St Lawrence River is proud to host military anglers as part of this project through Ft. Drum. If we win, the Wounded Warrior project gets a $5000 donation from WFN.

    What you get:

    (1) National exposure for your sport of carp angling!

    (2) A general all-around good feeling for helping your fellow man (and woman) :)

This year we are happy to report that there are no restrictions on who can vote from where, so all of you carp men and women from foreign lands who wanted to support us last year can do it this year! Please click on the link at the top of the post to vote. You can vote 4x a day with every email you have until May 31st. We get bonus votes for posting to twitter and facebook and for referring your friends by email.

Andy, Mario, Willem....can you move this to a more conspicuous spot for everyone to see?

    Thanks!

    StLawrenceRiverGal aka Deanna

    Tight lines and happy voting!

  7. I'm looking to maybe do some short written features on the CAWC contestants as part of my blog on WFN (World Fishing Network). My intentions are to help raise awareness of the tournament, carp angling as a sport in general, and the passion you all share for it. If any teams would like to be highlighted, please forward your background info to : shampine10@gmail.com.

    Where is your team from?

How far are you travelling to get to the tournament?

How long have you been fishing carp?

Have you fished the St. Lawrence River before?

    Any fishing accolades?

    Thoughts on the tournament?

Thoughts on carp fishing in general?

Any other info you'd like to share?

    Thanks!

  8. Sorry for the lag in getting back on here to address the results...amazingly, life DOES exist outside of the contest! LOL

Yes, we lost first place, but only by a teensy margin. It boils down to: if we had recruited only 18 more people to vote, we would have won.

But, what's done is done...Now, its time to PARTY! Second place, First Runner-up...whatever you want to call it, what we accomplished was awesome, and we are celebrating!

If any of you are around Waddington next weekend, please join us.

    Official Invitation:

First Runner-up in the entire country is an amazing accomplishment for a little town like Waddington--and we couldn't have done it without all of your support, enthusiasm and VOTES!

Please join us as we celebrate our success in the Ultimate Fishing Town USA contest.

The entire North Country is invited to share kids games, live music, food, fishing and more on the beautiful shores of the St. Lawrence River!

    Details:

    Sunday, June 19

    3 PM - 8 PM

Island View Park (riverfront, end of Main St. )

Carnival-type party with kids games, live music, food and more!

    BYOB responsibly

*****BY THE WAY.....I am working on getting Pete Thomas--reknowned outdoors journalist who used to work for the LA Times and is now affiliated with Yahoo! Sports and GrindTV, as well as having his own outdoor sports blog--to visit us during the CAWC in September. This would would be a big coup, with huge exposure...wish me luck. :)

  9. Tomorrow is the big announcement>>>> Who won?

We'd like to think it is us! But with only a 2200 vote difference, out of over 500,000 votes cast for us and trout town, its hard to say.

After the superhuman performance of the troutsters, there was a huge public outcry, and people wanted to know how they logged in sometimes 60 votes per minute. A local official has been in telephone contact with WFN, and they assured her they were checking the authenticity of all votes received and were tossing "suspicious" votes out from both sides. So, at this point, it is anyone's game...

Stay tuned. And keep your fingers crossed. But as I said before, even if we lose, we've still won!

Thanks again, everyone, for your votes and your enthusiasm. :yourock:

  10. I wouldn't be surprised if them Troutsters cheated somehow. :P

sadly, many people share those same sentiments.... i just posted the link to the great article from bassanglersmag.com about ray scott visiting waddington and the st. larry for the CAWC in sept... maybe it will help WFN in their vote manipulation--er, i mean vote tallying, if they know a fishing god will be visiting our town. ?? can't hurt right? lol

either way, we've won. we've put our town on the map and we've help spread awareness of carp angling as a true sport. not such a bad day's work...or 3 months worth of work, actually :) thanks to everyone who voted and/or then let me vote for them. especially to mario, andy, and willem for catering to my whims and answering my numerous and often desperate emails at all hours of the day and night. you guys are great! like i said, 1st or 2nd place, we're still having a party, and we'd love to see you there. :)

  11. And the other shoe will drop.... yes, folks, looks like a CARP TOWN will not be on the top for Ultimate Fishing Town USA>

The Trout people have come out in droves this morning to close the gap in a decisive manner, and at this rate, they will over take us by the buzzer.

It is still not too late to help. We can try to keep it close, at least! And like I said before, its not official til WFN says so. and we won't know that for about a week...

Oh! and please use EVERY EMAIL you have....and if you only have one email -- MAKE 5 MORE!

  12. Just posted a link on the GoFISH'n website for CARP WEEK: http://www.gofishn.com/carp-week
