  1. Well today I continued my blanking streak to 4 in a row. And I know its extremely hard to say what the problem is since you don't know my spot personally, but I'm going to give as much info as possible to see if anyone has any tips...

    1. I am fishing a river. The weather here was extremely warm in march, with the water temps getting into the 60s by the end of the month. During this time I was catching an average of 4 fish per outing and saw a lot of fish jumping, swirling ect.

    2. The last month the weather has cooled down quite a bit, staying in the 50s with cold nights, and the water temp had dipped and hovered around 50-54. I see zero signs of activity and the past 4 weekends I haven't gotten a nible.

    3. I am fishing below a dam. Last month the water was fairly high. For some reason the DNR has blocked water from coming through over the past month and the water has dropped about 5 feet. Could this have any effect?

If you have any more questions that would help you think of any tips just ask. Thanks guys

  2. Hello RJD,

I like to tell fishing stories and I was going to tell you a story called "Carp fishing is an affliction" but I decided not to because it was too weird, lol. I also have another story about my mirror and common carp pbs which are linked together in that both of them were recaptures and both have been my pbs twice in a row - both caught 2 times amongst millions and millions of carp in a river that spans 400 miles but this isn't the story I want to share with you either.

The story that I want to share with you is a story of failure. It's ok to fail in carp fishing but it's not ok to fail in life because we only get one life to live. But in carp fishing, we get many attempts at success. :)

I told this story in November of last year. I came out of retirement (don't ask me what this means  ) and tried to catch a very big carp but I was not able to accomplish it. Here is the story from last year: http://www.carpanglersgroup.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42641&st=0&p=561462&hl=november&fromsearch=1entry561462

    Nice story, enjoyed readin it

  3. congrats on those captures. A suggestion....you should take pics of both sides next time you catch a mirror because this will help you identify and keep track of the mirrors you catch. I've recaptured many mirrors and have seen them grow over the years...their unique scale patterns is how I can identify them by.

Thanks for the tip, ill keep that in mind

  4. I didn't notice that either until i saw my picture. I also noticed when catching it that it has a red coloring on the belly, nothing ive seen before from other pictures. Last weekend I caught my second mirror, which was a lot darker and was fully scaled. Here it ispost-6031-0-58072200-1310677263_thumb.jp

  5. Just curious here, anyone that wants to share what their personal best carp is, and any good stories with them. I have only been carping for about a year now, so my PB is just 21 lbs. Caught it on a tutti frutti boilie from k-1. Nothin real special. How about everyone else?

  6. After a dissapointing May where I had caught no fish before this morning, I had a the best day of my life carp fishing so far by catching 13 in about 3 hours. Ranged from 5-21 lbs, caught on breadballs (thanks pickerd) and tutti frutti boilies (the 21 lber, my new PB) Sorry, no pics. Overall a great day of carping
