Bravo! Nice fish

Hey there Fang, good going!
A pity though to see such a nice fish on the ground like that...
-
Nice fish Daniel

Hear, hear !
-
Tempting, sounds like a load of fun, but a little too far from Ottawa
-
absolutely magnificent!
-
Nice catch!
I have never caught a December carp...
-
Perfect, good to know. Thanks !

Greetings,
I was just wondering if there have been CAG events in eastern Ontario before?
-
You got a fallfish. Great musky and big walleye bait.
I stand corrected, I think hammercarp is right! Semotilus corporalis it is.
-
Way to go! At least you are still enjoying the last days of fishing before the ice.
I think what you caught is a Semotilus atromaculatus, known as a creek chub, a large minnow.
See any carp activity?
-
Nice catch! The debris on the fish does take a little something away though
-
One word....Bravo !
-
Here is another spot on the Rideau, in Manotick... might be worth checking out.
-
I believe they are fishing in Cornwall. Great video, thanks!
-
Yeah, I spent a few hours at Brewer's park, under the Bronson bridge as I think I saw the same post.
No bites and didn't see any carp action. There are tons of snags in that area.
The trick to catching a lot of carp next year on the Rideau will be to prebait an area and just wait for the carp to come. I will focus on 2-3 areas.... can't wait!
-
Good question.... I honestly couldn't say where on the canal it is.

Thought you might like this, carp in the Rideau canal :

Lucky you. In my neck of the woods, a winter venue for carp would require a 10''-12'' ice auger
-
Next time you stop by the SAIL store, why not do as I did, and ask them to bring in some carp bait... maybe if enough people ask, they will listen.
This being said, they do have a few baitrunners and 12' rods.

Thanks Arvand!
I have seen my share of big carp on the Rideau Canal, but have only fished it once, without any luck. I certainly intend to catch some next year though.

Anybody ever fished for carp on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa?
I have scouted a few areas along the canal this summer in the hopes of trying my luck come spring time. I find that in the summer, some potentially good swims are covered with weeds and difficult to fish.
Without pinpointing the area, what time of the year did you fish? Any good results?

Also, I find that turmeric does an excellent job at colouring the bait a nice bright yellow (might even outperform food colouring).
