  1. Since I have failed to find any fellow carpers that are in the St. Louis area, that are CAG members anyway, I figured I would show you all a little bit of the fun we have in Missouri. Unfortunately, most of my pics were saved only on my phone and I had a few mishaps this year, so there are few, but some good ones. Enjoy!

  2. I'm in st louis and have posted in the forums in search of other carp anglers in the area and blanked. I am not aware of any tournaments or groups but I would be interested if there were. I know there are quite a few carp anglers in the area from the remains of corn cans on the banks but that's about it.

  3. Anyone ever try carping horseshoe lake? I'm in south St louis and it's not far across the river. Looks like pretty decent size lake on google maps.

  4. Region New virus in the wild likely killed carp

A fish virus that has never been confirmed in the wild in Michigan may have contributed to a June fish kill of 300 to 500 common carp in Kent Lake, the state Department of Natural Resources said Wednesday.

Samples taken from the lake in Livingston and Oakland counties detected koi herpesvirus, which likely was introduced to Michigan waters by the release or escape of infected ornamental fish, the DNR said.

It is the first time the virus has been found in wild fish samples in Michigan, although it was detected in a private koi pond near Grand Rapids in 2003, the DNR said. The virus has been seen before in large-scale common carp die-offs in Ontario in 2007 and 2008.

The DNR said there are no human health effects.

  5. Went out in the morning yesterday and baited an area with 1 can of corn, 1/2 can of pineapple and a bunch of tiger nut boilies. Fished it all morning with 1 bite and saw a 20+ lber roll in the area. Decided that since I "prebaited" in the morning there should be some action. So I went back from about 7pm to 9:30 only to catch a couple cat. What did I do wrong here?

  6. Per the Missouri department of conservation. All urban ponds/lakes in the St. Louis area are stocked with common carp topping out around 20 lbs that they have seen while shocking the ponds. Boathouse lake has a few koi(over 12 inches) and fancy goldfish that locals have relocated to the lake.

Sounds like the Missouri and Mississippi are going to be where the bug boys play!

  7. I haven't tried this because it sounds like a way to get more litter in the water, but I remember reading an article a long time ago about a euro carp guy using pantyhose as a sort of pva bag. What are your thoughts on this?
