my partner just backed out on me for Joliet, so I will have to see if anyone near me can witness or will a picture and my word be good enough? forgot to pick up a thermometer also so I will have to see what readings my neighbors are getting.should still be fun
Just got my two nephews of 17 and 18 to take my partners spot.so we are good other than the thermometer

FFF participants,
We now have more than 100 brave anglers who registered, which is terrific. This implies that I need to hear from each and every of those 100+ anglers in the days following the event. Even if you blanked (I can't figure that out unless you tell me!).
First thing first, please read the rules & awards again... People often forget about the baby award (smallest carp), the sunrise award (sunrise pic) or the scubadoc award (biggest mirror).
Also don't forget to bring a thermometer and to make at least one temperature measurement per swim (try to cast your thermometer close to where you fish, and measure the water temp at the bottom). I know that it's getting harder to get a mercury thermometer in pharmacies, but please give it a good try.
Take plenty of pictures, not only of all the fish you caught, but also your friends, the scenery, etc. Don't forget to take a pencil and some paper to record your numerous catches. And your camera with spare batteries, of course! Oh, and your scale. And warm clothing. And warm drinks. And to buy your 2012 fishing license. Etc.
Then please send me ASAP an e-mail at jmoisand@gmail.com with all details, participant's full names, who caught what, at what time, fish weights, and of course the water temp.
For pics, e-mail attachments are fine, or links to online albums (Picasa, Shutterfly, Photoworks, Snapfish (!!), whatever), as you wish. If you don't want me to publicize those pics, please say so.
Deadline: Sunday Jan 8th at midnight (PST). Have fun, stay reasonably warm, and do your best to catch a few. Enjoy!

Yes I forgot to mention a long net...every carp angler should have one of these
Thanks guys I have a long net and am headed that way to check it out late start but better than not fishing

Weekend or weekday, theres plenty of area to fish and hardly any anglers. Thats is unless you fish when the joliet fall carp league is there which is every other saturday until december. Bicentenial park is directly across the river from harrahs casino in joliet...anywhere along this stretch of river is decent. Stay closer to the bridges for more action , most of the time.
Thanks I may head over there in the morning and check it out!!!

Lockport has went south after the big fish kill 2 years ago. . Allthough I did catch a 7-8 lber there a few months back. Have you caught carp from whalon lake? My father bass fishes there and recently told me he had seen some dead carp washed ashore there. He estimated they were in the 3-5 lb range.
Youre best bet locally would be desplaines river in joilet for numbers with a ocasional fish in the 20# range.
Yes I have caught carp in Whalon biggest being 10lb plenty in the 5-8 lb range, where would be a good place to try in Joliet on a weekday? not to familiar with that area either.
