well done chaps. nice fish.
-
some very good sized fish mixed in there. next year will be the year of the forty's again i am sure. is the place heading back to 2003 big fish levels?
-
first street bridge is outstanding. right in the middle to intercept passing shoals. it's so good, it shouldn't even be pegged as it makes it less of a comp. yeah the atc is about meeting up also but..........the winner will of drawn this peg one day out of two. going back, maybe this is the case in previous atc's. can anyone shed light on this?

if zach goes like his 'team' millwall, who have gone on a 14 match unbeaten run and come from nowhere, he and partner will win. they will then promptly beat up the rest of the competitors and smash the hotel up after!
-
go all teams! would like to see a leader board though. i hadly ever have a gripe with this site but why post a leaderboard on the front page if nothing happens. its about as live as a dead maggot!
-
Lol, I hope he won't sit on a record again for a day without catching it. Sorry Brid, Dutch humor.
a record dead otter? if so i get dutch humour!

my guess is they are not so much log flavour, more of a wee taste. bloodworm wee to be exact. wee isn't STICKY enough for my liking and normally just ends up on your shoe's rather than bait.

Thanks again, all.
Do the bobbies crack you in the skull if you're caught fishing in it? lol
I didn't see any carp, but it was pretty cold when I was there and it was somewhat windy the day I was out on the boat. I saw several kids playing on the shore, but no anglers. Do people normally fish that stretch of the river?
I really wanted to stay an extra week or so, and do some more exploring/fishing, but we had another meeting scheduled the next week in Las Vegas. Don't get me wrong, Vegas is always fun but I've been there half a dozen times in the last year alone. I'd rather have spent the time in the UK.
nobody really fishes that bit but a bit further up, carp do get caught at chelsea in a channel. indeed there have been instances of some grass carp being caught. further down, there used to be a major hot water outlet from the tate and lyle sugar factory and people could haul there amongst the sewage and rubber johnny's! the docklands has several marina's where carp do get spotted. they are certainly there alright although it doesn't look too fishy.

poingdestres really is a cool shop. they looked after me when i had all my gear stolen.
oh and i eat tomatoes with every meal!

hey fittzz
thoroughly enjoyed that mate.
don't want to tell you how to fish your own lake but i noticed it was warm enough for a tee shirt.you don't need telling but to expain my post... humans are the same as carp i.e they love the warmth of the sun. when that's beating down there is no way they will be in the bottom layers when the top layer would of heated up considerably. i bet the difference between the top 5 feet and the bottom would of been big! ever tried a zig on there?
love the idea of a blog through the season though. after seeing that i might start doing one myself just because i'd forget so much and i might spout something that will help at a later date.
cheers

My favorite memory was being net boy for this monster that tommy caught !! That and watching him hold on to his rod ( a cabelas predator for those who think its a wimpy rod) as that fish freight trained down the lake i kept telling him not to let it spool him and he just said "i cant stop it" well stop it he finally did
i truelly great moment for a great guy. i was just up the lake when news filtered through and couldn't wait to see this pic. simply outstanding!

If all goes well we should have all the registration forms posted on the website by this time next week at the latest.
The dates are on the Homepage CARP TS
One thing we are going to change for 2010 is the peg draw procedure. Each team will draw for the order they choose when registering just like always. It will then be a double draw instead of a single draw. Both the Captain and partner will each draw a peg number. They will have 20 seconds to decide which peg to keep and which one to return to the draw. We feel like this adds the element of watercraft, but also keeps a local team from having too much of an advantage.
If this system works well for 2010 we are considering using it for the 2011 CAWC.
Hominy will the week of April 19th.
Another note for 2011 the ONLY event we will be organizing is the Carp Angling World Championship on the St Lawrence River. Kathy and I decided we need to focus our entire year for the build up and organization of that one event to make it as well ran as possible.
2012 will be an exciting year with a line-up of new and additional venues for regional tournaments and the Tournament of Champions.
so the partial climbdown over the watercraft draw eh!
trouble is dave, you are also only partially down the bean stalk to the 'real' carp fishing world!

cool action shot there. hardcore!

that one died joel.think it got fed up of getting caught from the snags at 200 yards range in peg 19! each to their own though. different fish mate.
congrats to martin locke though. glad it was him that caught it.
-
i thoroughly enjoyed reading that as i do every issue. thanks dave for putting it together and long may it continue. happy new year!
-
i hate calling fish names but if you really had to name it, i would call it hugo. why? because hugo sanchez is surely the greatest mexican footballer ever. that carp is the greatest carp in mexico........at the moment!
-
welcome mate.
i also suggest you hook up with john kelley. a nicer person you couldn't wish to meet. not only that, he knows how to catch good sized carp from an area that doesn't have them in abundance.
good luck!
-
excellent fishing. not surprised with the twix look....it must be pretty cold standing in that water!
-
