  1. My name is Kevin Olivier, and I just wanted to take a sec to introduce myself. I am a noob carp angler. I live in Austin, so all of my carp have been caught on Lady Bird. I went out one time with my buddy and I was hooked....no pun intended lol. I joined CAG to meet fellow anglers and maybe get some tips. I look forward to competing in tournaments and other events!

My PB is a 57# 3oz grasser, out of Lady Bird. That was also my first carp lol, so you can understand why I became hooked so easily. Since then I have caught a few 20's. I look forward to cathing my first buff soon!

Other than angling, I enjoy disc golf and I'm a computer geek. I freelance web and graphic design for a living.

I hope to meet some fellow anglers in CAG. I am down to go fishing anytime, so feel free to post when you need a partner.

    welcome kevin.

a really nice intro and i am glad you are hooked on carping. if your anything like me, then the desire to go fish for a golden monster will always burn strong in your heart!

good luck on lbl or town lake.

  2. hardest i ever tried for a blank was a trip to france for ten days. 900 miles each way, moved swims 8 times and had a couple fall off. it was tough but fun.

everyone has blank days at town lake once in a while. haven't fished it much(a total of about 25-30 days) but i'm sure it will come good for you badchade. they could be harvesting a natural food source which might explain your lack of action on regular carp bait.

  3. marcus and jeff....

a very well done on a serious sleep deprived effort from you guys. you pulled a top spot, pulled out all the stops and got the max out of it. i looked at the picture of you guys at the awards and am amazed you guys look almost normal after such a herculean effort!!

thank you for taking the time to post up such a fine report on your week also.

sorry we only had a brief chat but maybe a pleasure fishing trip is in order

    cheers guys

    andrew

  4. Not sure what is worse, driving up 81 for 8 hours or praying that the baggage handlers were gentle whilst enjoying an eight hour flight from the UK.

working for an airline myself and having to fix what they break (aeroplanes) i take the latter.

one time i flew back from the states and landed at heathrow, my attention was drawn out the window to a motley crew of wreckers (thats what we call them in my department!) that had taken up position ready for unloading. one was sat down playing imaginary drums, two on air guitar, an air violinist and a lead singer jumping around. when it came to unloading, they were banging on the roof of the cargo bay and shouting "oh sh1t" pretending to break things, which could be clearly heard by all the passengers. i then watched with horror as my rod tube was slung on a cart quickly followed by about 20 suitcases that got launched on top of the tube. i thank bazooka pro rod tubes that my rods were still all in two peices when unpacked!

  5. hi marcus, jeff, mark and tommy.

we are well geared up for this. have made loads of stuff recently including a stack of our special st lawrence boilies plus various tackle needed for our style of fishing the larry.

we are also flying in on thursday and are staying till saturday the 8th oct with a trip to the tommy planned in the middle. we will be in odgensburg for a suspected pub crawl friday night. we will be in the excellent company of jay and af bob and co. looking forward to seeing everyone.

marcus...are you taking your phone? i can give you a ring and let you know where we are if you fancy a few beers after the bbq.

    roll on next week.

  6. Excellent report and well done for taking the opportunity to fish while you were down there!

I travel to Sydney & Melbourne from time to time but have only fished for saltwater species so far and yet to try carp down under.

next time you go to sydney, check out the ponds in centinial park. it's entirely up to you whether to risk taking a telescopic there in a bag but it was 20lb fish city when i had a look! also knew a bloke who caught 7 twenties in a very short afternoon trip on floating bread.

  7. jerome

that's one of the things i love about usa carp...their torpedo shape. nice fish btw.

loads of other beauties on here as well. like the washington basin carp and scotts mega long monster. plenty of lovely mirrors too both big and small.

it's tough picking three but here are mine.

a mirror from town lake that has a real nice shape. just hope this fish is still alive because it would look unreal as a forty...plus a st lawrence chunk and one of the dozens of lovely carp my brother has caught while putting up with me on our travels!

  8. sounds like you threw the kitchen sink at them there mate. nice one for plugging away and getting a couple.

reminded me of an old estate lake i used to fish that was only 3 feet deep. they are so tricky sometimes in those kind of lakes. i found the darkest nights were always the best. several times i witnessed carp not even touching the line but just swimming up to it then bolting. so frustrating! liking the marker float technique of spooking them from other area's! when all else aint going right i am going to try that.

look forward to seeing you in september.

    cheers

    andrew
