Well it's getting to that time of year again. The temperatures are dropping, the leaves are changing, and well, the big fish are feeding!
To honour the fall beasts, I'll be hosting an open CAG Fall Fish-in, Saturday October 13th between 8am-2pm @ Lasalle Marina, RAIN OR SHINE. The event is free, and welcomes anglers of all ages and skill levels to come out and enjoy the comradery and excitement of Carp Angling.
Depending on event attendance, there will likely be a Big Fish pot on the side. For this it'll be, $10 a head, heaviest fish takes all. All eligible fish must be caught between 8am-2pm.
Bankspace shouldn't be a problem, however feel free to message me on the day for an update on bank conditions.
Be aware the Hamilton Harbour fishery falls under FMZ 20 and is regulated by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. All rules and regulations must be adhered too. Threatening/inappropriate behaviour towards others, littering and boisterous conduct will not be tolerated. Failure to heed these rules will lead to the subsequent removal of the angler at fault from the event.
Feel free to message me via personal message or on social media with any questions or concerns you may have.
Have a great Sunday,
Tristan -
Great post Mike! Glad to see you're managing to catch fish, it's been a slow one as of late. Boy did it ever rain today! ?
Anyways happy labour day!
Ps - Come October 13th I'll be hosting a fish-in somewhere in the Harbour (spot TBA) if you're interested in trying for some fall fish. I'll be making an official post within the next day or two with more details. Tight lines!

This weather is a drag, isn't it?! It won't be too much longer until we're back at it.
Great recipe, I'll have to give it a go sometime.
Have a good one,
Tristan

I am pleased to announce that an "All-Cag" Junior Team will be fishing in this tournament in August. Austin, Brendan, and Brian from Michigan, and myself (Tristan) from Ontario. Hopefully we'll bring back a win and make the CAG proud!

I disagree, it looks like a Chain Pickerel. Great fish, wtg!

I was just wondering where I could get a replacement bivvy pole for my Nash Strongbow Mk2 Bivvey. The back pole snapped during a storm a few weeks ago.

I would just like to thank everyone who helped search for the car and fishing tackle. We recieved a call this morning from the Hamilton Police, stating that they had found the car in a farmers field, Caledonia way. When my uncle went to the scene, all of our fishing stuff was intact and still there. I am ridiculously happy. The only thing of mine that was stolen was my camera. My uncles GPS, passport and phone charger were also stolen. The car suffered minor scratches, and that was all. Thanks again.

Last night between 9pm-9am my uncles car, Dark Brown/Black, 2008 Volkswagon Passat, license number - BJVR 574, was stolen out of our driveway. My uncle Ken, Myself (Tristan) and Nick Burgiss' carp fishing gear was in the car at the time. If you see any carp gear (in the list below) being sold for extremely cheap or at all, on social networking sites, or sites like kijiji or craigslist, please contact me at 905 870 4941.

I have been seeing this goldfish in one of my winter swims for a while now. For weeks, me and a couple other anglers have been trying to get it. Finally, after weeks of trying I finally stalked him out. Single piece of sweet corn, size 10 hook, 2 foot long 4lb test flourocarbon leader, drifted weightless/no weight. Seeing that corn disappear and its head shake, completed my season. Thanks to Donnie for netting it, Kevin for running the net over, and Mike for pointing the fish out for me. I also got a nice lump too
Goldfish-
and the winter lump. 24lbs!

My uncle, the sleeping bandit, strikes again. This time, its going city-wide.
" Ken Uchida of Hamilton, a member of CAG was out at the crack of dawn Sunday fishing for carp, at Lasalle Park in Burlington. He can relax, as the fishing rod stand and an alarm to wake him up when the fish takes the bait. Yesterdays warmth was a record breaker."

Due to some good luck, we ended up on the pier. Not the first spot we thought of going, but a great choice.
Got a few pigs for you Nick. My uncle got into his PB and some other piggies too. Mike, Donnie and Jeremy left before the bite, haha. We stayed the night, in near freezing temps. Pukka.

It's most definitely worth fishing carp in rivers this time of year. Though I'm not extremely familiar with the Holland or the Humber, I would suggest finding an area where the river meets a lake, pond or slacker water. However I've found fishing some rivers along the North Shore of Lake Ontario, such as the Credit, unproductive and not worthwhile during the salmon run. I haven't narrowed a single reason down, but believe a number of factors are to blame.
Rivers like the Grand, and Trent/Severn would be good rivers to try this time of year as they can provide more consistent fishing.
All the best,
T
