  1. One of my relatives told me he saw a whole carp on ice at Fortino's and I thought he was kidding or mistaken. But he knows his fish and I guess I was correct to believe him.

    Next time I go by, I'll ask the fish monger behind the counter where it came from. I'm just curious. Probably farm raised?

    I think it's funny that a fish that was introduced here from Europe so many years ago as a cheap food souce is now rarley ever seen at a seafood counter. As a matter of fact, I believe the last time I saw carp sold for the dinner table was at Kennsington Market in Toronto. If I recall, they used to have 'em swimming in big tanks so you could get 'em really fresh, like trout or lobster!
