Wow, looks like lots of kids and families out for this one! A nice day weather-wise too which must have helped.
Thanks for posting those pics, Lorne.

I really enjoyed reading your report on the Park, Dave. I found it very informative for someone like me who is unfamiliar with Toronto area fishing spots.
Sounds like a fabulous location with lots of angling opportunities being created, literally, before our eyes.

Yes, raccoons are incredibly smart. I don't know what that says about us. lol
-
Well done, DC. Some real nice ones!
Big water. Small water. On the fly. A real variety of carping experiences there.
-
Wow, nice session! I'd say you're doing things right. lol

Well, once the chores were done on Saturday, I packed the gear in the trunk and whipped down to the harbour to relax for a couple of hours and maybe trick a few fish.
The wind was gusting and in my face when I arrived. Good for these guys, I supposed.
But good for me too. I find the fishing tends to be better with an onshore wind, no matter what the species.
Anyhoo, I didn't have to wait long for the bite alarm to signal fish in the area. I was getting lots of line bumps then finally a fish.
Infact, the next fish came as I cast out my presentation and was placing the rod on the pod! I didn't even get it set when I felt the pull and full wrath of the fish on the other end!
All the Carp fell to 3 or 4 kernels of maize on a hair, sitting on a tightly chummed area of catupulted maize. I the end, I went 5 for 6 with all the fish being between 12lbs to 17bls, this being the biggest.

Congratulations Mark! What a prime specimen!!
A nice cluster of photos, too, including your rig.
Oh, what a night!
-
Nice numbers Lorne! That's a pretty memorable day with that many doubles! Well done Sir.

I was waiting for that Streamtripper and it certainly didn't dissapoint! Wow, what a dandy time you guys had.
That looks like a great resort right there by the water and a great swim. Real beauty fish too including those gorgeous Mirrors.
Well done Guys!

Nice job Hawk! What a surprise that 30+ must have been, considering it was mostly a baiting expedition for your next day's fishing!
Awesome pics of your catches, too, and the details and pic of your rig is appreciated.

A couple of real dandies there Streeker. Glad you had yourselves a good time and were able to get some fish to co-operate! lol
-
Wow Hawk, you da man! A lot of nice fish you brought on to the bank. Man, those are some banner sessions and nice pics to remember 'em by.
PS.. Imagine what your tally would be if you had two vehicles! LOL
-
Nice captures. You should try a 9.5 footer, I find myself almost never fishing my 12 footer anymore...especially in swims like that
Interesting that you mentioned that Streeker. Althought I caught my fish on the 12 footer, Karl got his on a 9-foot stalker rod, and I'll bet that was instrumental in him being able to work the fish out from under the tree and its tangle of roots.
And thanks for the comments All.

That is a great story and nice pictures. You neglected one thing- what did Karl's fish weigh? Congrats on introducing another person to the Wonderful
world of Carping.
It was 17lbs Skeet. A few pounds heavier than mine. I told him he was never to do that again. lol

Made plans to meet up with my daughter's fiancée Karl after he and I were done work to do a little carp fishing. We were to meet up at a nice Kitchener area swim that was close to both of us and too convenient to pass up. I finished work earlier than Karl so I got to the swim first, baited up with maize and a few balls of method, got the rod on the pod and waited for the fish( and Karl ).
I noticed and few 'bubblers' in the hood the spied a few fish cruising in the margins so I was hopeful for some action tonight. After a myriad of liners kept the bite alarm beeping off and on, I finally got a fish to take and it ran straight for the far bank while I held on. What fun! What wasn't fun was trying to net this river battler on my own. At close quarters, with a 12 foot rod under sprawling tree branches, it was impossible to net. Just then, like the cavalry, Karl arrives, quickly grabs the net, and I have our first fish on the bank for a photo.
Anyhoo, I dropped my maize on a hair into the margin again while Karl sent his presentation further out towards the middle of the river and we relaxed and waited. Things were pretty slow with only and occasional liner making us stop our stories in mid sentence, hold our breath, and hope for a run.
Finally, after what seemed like a loooong wait, the bite alarm with Karl's rod on it screamed 'fish on' and he was into a nice one. Although Karl has fished a bit, off and on, since his youth, carp fishing is something new to him. I was impressed the way he fought and even guided the carp like a pro! But like prize fighters say; "Everyone has game plan until they get knocked down!" ..and the carp ran him into a tangle of tree roots and the line was jammed solid.
I told Karl to take tension off the line and see if the carp would make its way out on its own. Nope. Then I told Karl I'd head around the other side of the tree and try 'encourage' the fish out around the other way. In the meantime, Karl had worked his way close in to the tangle of roots and was able to get the fish to come out and into my awaiting net!
Well done, Karl.Karl told me it was the biggest fish he had every caught, which made it one of my best day of fishing.

Wow, what a day!!!
Nice job Steamtripper. You and your son have a day to remember with both size and numbers!
Thanks for the story and pics. A thoroughly enjoyable read!
-
You, my friend, were on fire! WTG Hawkwise. Some real gorgeous fish there and nice pics too.
-
What a nice surprise that must have been. WTG
-
What a stunner! WTG Hawkwise. You've put in your time and that beauty if well deserved and earned. Nicely and patiently played out of the snag, too, whatever it was.
-
Wow! What a couple of beauties!
Excellent pics and accompanying story Mark. Really a pleasure to read.
Congratulations on a great start to your 'warm water' capring season and congratulations on the terrific fish in you organized Sunday.
-
Well, what a terrific event that turned out to be with lots of fish, food and some good carping company.
Much applause! .. and congratulations for Yuri, Jim and Vic for winning some sweet medals too( So jealous! ).
-
Thanks for the heads-up. The last time I was down there, I didn't see any 'no parking' signs on the hill and thought that the City was probably going to allow people to park along there again. I guess I would have been wrong.
-
Congratulations on the PB Zippy. Funny how you beef up your set up for the carp and they still go for your presentation on the Ultra-lite. I wonder if your tidier set up with the lighter line was the key on that day?
-
Well, your season is off to a cracking start Hawkwise! I'd be well cuffed with those.
Get in!!

Nice looking display, Lorne and Mark. I'll bet you guys started more than a few young anglers on a path to carp fishing.
