  1. I purchased a set of $2 insect traps at dollarama and loaded them with some cantalope slices and brown sugar.

Put them out on the balcony for the flies to get into and lay some eggs..Voila!

end of the week ....fresh maggots!

Last few times I have been out, I have switched to bread pellets. Doing really well on them, so no maggot farming right now,

  2. looks like you guys had a fantastic weekend - well done to all involved.

now I have to ask. did they get any carp when electrofishing High Park. I have heard lots of rumours but have never read or heard any confirmed catch reports...

They didn't bring any Carp in on the boat, but I can confirm for you that there is Carp in Grenadier Pond. I have caught several there on float bread, all under or around 10lbs. You can see them rolling on the surface, or cruising the shallows in the evenings.

  3. I took part in the two kids fishing events in Toronto last weekend as one of the Urban fishing ambassadors team. Everyone had an awesome time, a lot of kids caught their first fish...and LOVED IT! (Canadian Carp Club had a stand set up at the high Park event)

If anyone is interested in seeing some pics of the event, they are up at the ambassadors site www.torontourbanfishing.com

BTW, the toronto-catch of the day album has a ton of Toronto Carp in it.....just sayin'

  4. Toronto city parks General manager 416-392-8182

Be polite, please take 2 minutes out of your day and call. Ask the admin to connect you with someone who can explain the reason for the new no fishing ban, which parks are affected and why there was no public consultation.

Two minutes out of your day to let them know this is not going past easily. Thanks!

  5. Mike how can I grab a few of these? feel like shipping me a few - of sending them with Jamie? Just wondering? I would love to get my hands on this stuff!

Shipping them would probably cost way more than buying them at the store. I could drop some off next time I come past Hamilton, or of someone is in Toronto they can pick a couple of blocks up from me. I'm right downtown next to the Rogers Skydome.

  6. Thanks for coming up! Hopefully next time we'll have better temperatures and can also sight fish the ponds. I'm working in Florida next week, but I'll definitely be down to Hamilton in a couple of weeks once I'm back

  7. Bulk Barn does four or five varieties of Molasses, but nothing in 5L containers that I have seen.

Apparently bulk molasses is an organic farmng additive....(Who knew?)

Assuming you dont have room for a tanker full, these guys seem to have 10L containers.

  8. Guys, I'm in! When's the meet time? Is there a ferry we can take earlier than 8am?

    Spring Ferry schedule starts tomorrow.

    http://www.toronto.c...ry-schedule.htm

There is a 6:35 ferry to Wards Island, but it's a 30 minute walk from Wards around to the big bridge on centre island.

For those coming to the Islands on Saturday it looks we will setup on the south shore of Long Pond at the junction opposite the Grandstand. This is the biggest water aside from the Blockhouse Bay junction at the other end of Long Pond. Walk straight ahead on the path from the centre island ferry and cross over the big white bridge. I usually fish one of the smaller nearby canals, but I don't think there's enough bank space for the numbers that might show up. If anyone wants to sight fish on light tackle let me know on Saturday, I can show you a mark very close by that has had a fairly large group of Carp moving around in shallow, clear water for my last few visits.

  9. Thanks all.

  10. Hi: I Just registered on the forums and also joined up as a paid CAG member.

I fish in the Toronto area from Scarborough Bluffs across to Port Credit, but mostly at the Toronto Islands, Tommy Thompson Park, the Harbourfront and Ontario Place. I'm looking to focus on Carp fishing this year and to hopefully build some skills.

    cheers

    Mike
