Does anyone have one of these Shimano baitrunner long spool.
Looks like it can cast a mile
-
I thought these boilies were made from food stuff not paper...
Check out this video on YouTube:
-
Are boilies the same as pop up boilies?
The only difference is pop up boilies float?
Are they both made from the same stuff?
How do pop up boilies float?
I saw a youtube video that had a guy make a pop up boilie from paper and then coat it with something.
-
What's the most common size of pop up boilies one uses?
I was planning to buy the biggest ones I can find but I don't how effective that is.
Big bait big fish?
I figure maybe some the size of a dime or nickel? Say 20 to 25 mm?
-
Some one sell me some cheap pop up boilies. The big ones.

Errr Tribal didn't reply to this thread............................but he should!!
Carp Time, check out this Southern California thread,
Wow..
Have to find out which lake in california he caught that in.
-
if You are wanting a rod That will do double duty for Surf and Carp you are going to have a tough time finding one Carp rods are softer more giving then a Surf Rod. Reels Yes you can use them just wash them down after every outing. but the rods I do not think are interchangeable Surf rod is to stiff you will get alot of Hook pulls. Carp rod is not going to be stiff enough in my opinion for Surf fishing and I have done a Fair share of Surf fishing and I tried my Surf rod out for carp and had to many hook pulls.
I'm sorry I should explained the type of surf fishing we do in Southern California.
Generally most surf fishing done in so cal is done with salmon steal head rod.
Unless your fishing for batrays/ sting rays

Carp time,
Start with what you have. Learn more about the watercraft of carp and the terminal tackle needed and you will start catching. No reason to spend a bunch of money on new gear to let it sit on the bank, fishless. If you learn more about the carp you will start catching them.
If you find you are getting overpowered or that the carp are out of reach, then start thinking about longer stronger gear.
One of the west coast carpers I know of catches most of his on 4-6 lb line and suitable rod/reel.
You don't need a 12' rod and big reel to catch carp.
Carp rods are often much 'softer' action than surf rods.
Thanks I think that's a honest reply.
I'm going to use my salmon steelhead rod for now, seems to have similar action.
I went to daiwa today to check out the carp rod and the rod was parabolic felt like my daiwa costal specialty 10'6

there is a lot of proof on here and others sites that there are some large ones. im from los angeles county/ san bernardino county/ riverside county and have seen personally fish over 20# caught before i haven't got one my self places ive gone are hit or miss but next time ill go this year some time ill get one.
as far as rods go i have no experience on none of them but a lot of beginners here in tx have the mad dragons and have caught great fish.
as far as reels i own daiwa regal plus bri 4500 series they are great havent had any problems at all with them. i bought them in california at the fin they have the best deals on them and they spool your reels with line for free they have a lot of different varieties
The only lake that I am aware of that has carp is lake elsinore. It's infested with lake. They bow fish that lake for carp.

Where do I start, New Year, New Common PB...What a day, what a day, what day!....I worked on this swim for a few days and a few nights. I have fished this swim previously but didnt have much time to fish and havent been back since then... till today! I knew there were some lumps in there because I seen them surface last time I was there.
I wont drag this on so lets cut to the chase....Enjoy the pictures.

Congrats!
Where in Moravia can you catch carp that big?
-
Sport fish not a sport fish doesn't really matter to me.
I just want to fish for carp.
The carp im targeting is no bigger then 10 pounds. Max. More like 5-7 pounds
There's not much carp action in southern California.
The carp don't get as big as the ones posted on this forum.
-
We cannot chum in California.

I love My Daiwa Sealine Black Bri another alternative is UK version Linear this is my main reel I have three but I do have two of the sealines for Spodding and for Backups The Linear comes with Two spools so if you purchase two reels one in 4500 and one 5000 You now have two 4500 reels and two 5000 the reels are same just different size spools. You have the Linear S solid reel but if you want to pay a few dollars more Step up to the Linear X a little smoother but the S is still a great reel that will last you if taken care of and I really do not feel a big difference between the S and the X http://www.carpkit.com/search.php?search_query=Daiwa+Linear+reels&x=0&y=0'>http://www.carpkit.com/search.php?search_query=Daiwa+Linear+reels&x=0&y=0
The money You will spend on the Theory I would really consider going with Saxons or Gilbert Huxley heard lots of great stuff about Both but if I was going to make a choice I would go Saxon
Just my two cents
I have an daiwa emblem pro for salt water plan to use it for double duty for carp.
Want to get the daiwa sealing bri bite n run as we..
Did know the wildcast z also has CRBB and 8 of them to be exact.
Can that reel be used in salt water?
-
Well first off...
How many rod/reel sets are you looking to get?
How much money are you willing to spend?
How far are you casting?
Personally, I can live with a cheap rod, but the reel has to be of quality. For fishing tackle, you pretty much get what youre willing to pay. There's a reason why some rods and reels are expensive.
I wasn't planning to spend over $60 for a carp rod.
Im a tackle whore but we don't do much carp fishign in califonia.
It's not much of a sport fish over here.
I can use a salmon steal head rod and fish for carp but I want a long 12' rod for surf fishing as well.
-
There's the secret. Keep casting badly and you're chumming legally.
That's so dumb of me. You actually solved my problem. That makes so much sense it's silly.
But I still want to use a pop up boilie and cast as far as I can.
What's the biggest size boilie you guys recommend? And what flavor boilie? Does it really matter on the flavor?
-
I generally use masa Mexican tamale mix with some sugar and throw in some corn or ground up corn. Role it up into a nice consistency. But you can't cast it far. Any power into the cast and the bait just flies off.
We cannot chum the water in California.
-
Im a bit confused the boilies have so many different flavor I'm afraid while fishing ill end up eating it instead.
Does it really make a difference what flavor the boilies are?
I've been using masa Mexican tamale mix and. Corn meal with surgarcane and corn. But the problem is y can cast that far. If you put any power into it the bait just flys off the hook.
Shipping for the boilies is so expensive.
-
Wow shipping cost as much as the boilies!!!
I'm in California....
-
I was just planning to purchase an inexpensive rod.
-
I'm confused in looking to purchase boilies I come across boilies and pop up boilies
Don't all boilies float?
I just want to stick one boilie on a hook.
-
Anyone know where I can get some boilies for cheap?
-
