  1. I use marker floats for water depth and try to spend time on the bank watching the water. If a carp hits the surface I want to see it as this time of year they tend to be schooling and if there is one there is more. If I don't see fish, I just find a spot with the marker that it near some sort of structure (I like drop offs during the winter) and bait it up for a few days and hope. :)

  2. Welcome Chris!

The Stones River just south of Nashville is loaded with carp. In Murfreesboro there are a few places were it is very common catch a few dozen in a day. Sharp Springs Park in Smyrna (http://www.townofsmyrna.org/RecreationCommunity/ParksRecreation/Parks/Sharpsprings.aspx) is also a great spot to catch carp and even a few buffalo and is closer to Nashville. Last time I fished it (in December) I caught a carp while I was still spoding and continued to catch all day...could only keep one rod in the water. Long Hunter SP is also good to get into some fish. Fish Couchville lake, not Percy Priest Lake. PM me if you want some more details.

  3. I lived in GA for a number of years and fished waters for carp in the northern half of the state. My guess is that there are 40s, but they are found in waters that have very few other carp - waters that would not be much fun to fish in the sort term. Most waters seem to have a stunted population which reduces their maximum size due to a lack of food. Lake Burton might perhaps be worth a shot.

    SC?

    Hi all-

I am going to be moving to the Columbia area of SC next month and was wondering if any one is currently carping in the area?
