  1. Got home from work last night and felt like a quick session. I had not pre-baited so I decided to hit a couple smaller spots within the same venue that hold fish of decent numbers and size, Hit my first spot with no success landing one horned pout, carp were cruising around everywhere, rolling over on the surface, but showed no interest... Went to my second location and within about 40 minutes of setting up I got a very twitchy run, expecting my second horned pout for the night I picked up the rod, and right away could tell this was no horned pout. This fish was ripping drag like crazy, and just wouldn't stop running, making for a very memorable fight. I got the fish in close, and was a bit disappointed to see that it was much smaller then I thought it was going to be, the fight had me thinking I had something much larger. Then I noticed, its a mirror! It weighed in at 12lb 2oz.. I have been fishing the place for years and never seen a mirror, or heard of one landed from there. Memorable capture, on a spur of the moment trip.. great night!

  2. Hot weather really blows, but you will notice some spots will still produce in the heat. Moving water is your best bet since the water is cooler and more oxygenated. Bite is always best pre spawn and during the fall feed.... But also, are you pre baiting? Because sometimes if the carp aren't feeding you still can entice some of the less stubborn ones with a good pre bait... Only problem with hot weather pre baiting.... Turtles, hate em!
