  1. wow Keith , Cool fish :D

I have a friend who's dad is into fish collecting. He bought a pair of 4 inch pacu's and kept them for 22 years. when the biggest one died it weighed 18 lbs, Kenneth had to use his carp net to move the fish from tank to tank as it grew. the last tank it was in was a 400 gallon lobster tank with a cooling system, it was kept out in his metal shop and the cooling system was used in the summer to keep the temps to a comfortable level for the pacu

  2. Back in the day when I fished the paylakes growing up. everybody used 9 foot spinning rods with mitchell 300 reels and the would float. I have seen many of them go in the water and then cruise around on the surface while the fish swam around trying to get rid of it. It was cool because it made it easier to cast a line over the floating rod to retreive it for the thankfull owner

  3. When and where is the reunion (I know I was not there the first time but for monster buffs I can try to join in the fun)

Oh and Todd - just when are you going to fish the ATC?

    Hey Keith,

I hope to finally make it down for the next one, Is it in March again?

I have been wanting to make it down for a few years now but with my work and other things I just have not been able to do it.

  4. did anyone see the Larry Dahlberg show " Hunt For Big Fish" where he was catching Baluga Sturgeon, freakin awesome !!!!

He caught one on 8 lb line that was over 100 lbs.

we need to talk Larry into doing a show on giant carp

  5. the 2 pics of the knife fish are awesome, a lot of pet shops also have these for sale and I had no idea they got that big. the one with the spots on its body looks like what the pet shops call a clown knife fish. I had one of those in my tank for about 10 years and it got to about 13 inches long before I sold it back to a pet shop, it got to big for my tank.............

  6. This is definitely getting out of control !!!!!!!!!!

Man !! what kind of fish is that with the stripes on it ???

It kind of looks like a carp, If it is that's the coolest carp I have ever seen,hhmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........Striper carp !!!!!

  7. 050629_catfish_hmed_9a.hmedium.jpg

this 646 pound giant catfish was caught in THAILAND...........

wonder how big the CARP get??????

and what if they were MIRRORS!!! :D

I bet if there are any carp in that river, that cat has probably eaten some big carp in his life.

There is another catfish that resmbles the Mekong and it is called a sharp tooth catfish, It eats everything in the river including the occasional small child.

    Todd

  8. I am leaning more towards the highfin carp sucker, but still not sure.

the quilback has a really long first dorsal spine that goes half way down it's back.

Anyone else no for sure which one it is??

Hey Carpenter, it is still a really cool catch , Congrats !!!

  9. We can definately give that a try... do you have a boat (I do)?  I have a spot on the lake for big grassies that is pretty reliable out there, made a post about it a few weeks ago in the carp photos section... I know may way around the lake looking for gar too thats for sure!

David, yeah I got a 24 foot pontoon carp/gar boat. I have a friend who I stay with down there who is a catfish/stripper guide and he has a 30 footer Crest III pontoon.

we usually fish the side waters on the diversion canal for grass carp and up around the crappie kneck.

    where do you usually fish??

  10. Hawg master that is a hell of a gar!!! I haven't seen any in the santee that would have gone as large as that!! I don't know why, they are just really small out here.

    David,

I am going to be fishing for Grass carp at Santee the last weekend of June, maybe we can hook up and fish together one day.

  11. If you can get your hands on a Kitchen Aid mixer then you are set.

It will perfectly mix your dry base mixes and then when you are ready to roll it will mix your dough, easy as pie :D:D

Another good tip for mixing DRY base mix together is a large ziplock. Put in all your stuff, blow some air in, and shake ike crazy. Just seal and save until use ..

Mixing the "wet" is just as easy, just depends on how much you're goona make.

6 egg mixes are a nice amt to work with and this'll make over a lb of dough usually, depending on your mix.

Crack 6 in a bowl, add 5 ml flavor and / or any other wet stuff you may have, then just add base mix until desired consistency!

  12. really cool, David...looks like a blast

David we are going to have to hook up some time. I have made several gar trips to Santee but have yet to catch one from there that was over 15 lbs.

we get them up to 20 lbs regularly at Greenwood Lake in SC.

this is a 23 I got there last year
