  1. Hey Graham, nice pics !

I hope we can hit this spot again before they start to spawn.

i have 3 guys here at work who all most cried when I told them that we let that turtle go. Their mouths were watering and they had this glazed look in their eye as they were thinking of turtle stew.

I beleive if I bring them that turtle they will probably fight over it, hey that might be fun to watch :D

  2. Yes, good luck to all who are going. :D I'll be here in SC nursing my shoulder and trying to get better. I hope to see some of you on the bank side this summer. when I have my shoulder fixed I ought to be able to pick up one of them 100 lb. buffs for a picture so look out :D .................Todd

  3. Hey MN, sorry about your net but It sounds like you had a good time.

It is all ways fun to catch carp using new baits or methods.

It sounds like to lake has got some promise so keep at it. Before long you will be posting pics of you holding a big ole' mirror or common with a big smile on your face...............Todd

  4. Thanks Tommy,

I may try to get a few more this year. It is tuff to get all your stuff lined up to try and set a record , especially If you are going to release the fish alive.

I had the fish for the 2lb record last year, I caught a 16lb.2oz grass carp on 2lb. line, I weighed it on my certified scales, had my witness, my line was right( I had the IGFA test it for me before I went out) I had all the pics of the fish's fins and tail so the biologist could make an I.D. on the species, I had everything but I made one mistake, I weighed the fish on my boat. There is a rule that states that a record fish has to be weighed on a dock or dry land, so my app. was refused.

I won't make that mistake again.

Oh' yea, If any one wants to try for a record be sure you are not using a hair rig, IGFA won't accept it, stupidest thing I ever heard but hey, rules are rules. I was using soft maize on the hook for my record, I even took pics of the hook with the bait on it to send in..................Todd

  5. Hey Guys,

I was just checking out the IGFA site looking for any new potential records for carp and to see If my record was still there.

There is a record pending for Grass carp-all tackle. An angler named Tracey Tedrick caught a grass carp in the Flint River in Georgia on 7/3/2003 that weighed 78lb. 12oz.

There is not a pic yet but If this is indeed found to be a valid application I am sure that there will be some pics in the international angler news letter soon.

If any one knows this person or If anyone finds any pics of the fish I would love to see them..................Todd

  6. 56 runs , 40 fish landed in a 10 hour trip. lost the others to the rocks and run out of leads and bolt rigs.

After I got low on terminal tackle I took the carp boat out and anchored on top of the spot where I was catching the fish and fished straight down with one rod. I caught 12 of the 40 like this with a bolt rig and single boilie in 30 foot of water, Great fun !!

  7. Hey Mudfish,

I see lots of baby bowfin around the Saluda in the spring , these fish I saw the other day were not bowfin.

But speaking of bowfin , they are a very cool fish and the will hit a black 8" lizard like a freight train hitting a brick wall, better hold onto your rod while fishing in bowfin waters :D:D

  8. Thanks Newt and Mark,

The fish I saw the other night had about the same body shape as the little ones in the photo's but they were not that dark in body color. It was at night and looking straight down into the water with a flash light. I am going to try and net some of the critters tomorrow evening.

  9. Hey Guys, Question ?

Does anyone have any pics of baby snake heads?

I was fishing for buff's Saturday night at a SC lake and after dark I was looking around a boat ramp for some crayfish. I saw hundreds of little baby fish that I have never seen before. They were 3 to 4 " long and very slender with a pointed head/snout ( and I am sure they are not gar or Tmuskie's). They also had a row of dotes or bars from tip of nose to tail. There were reports of some angler catching a snakehead from this water last year but I thought it was a hoax. If these wre snake heads I saw this means this lake is in trouble, I have read some things about the snake head that make me worry about this water.

  10. Hey Juice Man,

Tony's fish was never an IGFA Record, the biggest buff on the IGFA books is a 83 lb. 4 oz. buff caught by Randy Collins. There is another one on there that is 81 lb.

I don't know why Tony's fish was not eligable all though I beleive it is a NC state record. I have been in the building there at Midway many time and seen the mount of Tony's fish and It is Awesome, I dream of the day one that big rolls into my landing net.

Tony said that he had dreamed he was going to set a record before he caught that buff.

He was qouted in the Charlotte news paper as saying that , the buff he caught beets anything he has ever felt , helt or smelt LOL !! :D
