  1. I made my first batch the end of last season. I used corn meal and wheat flower and followed the advice of a fellow carp fisherman across the pond and used cherry Jello powder for flavor and vanilla extract. My first try I put too much Jello powder in but once I got it right they were nice and firm after they dried out a couple of days. I made some larger ones which didn't firm up right away. I put those in the microwave for a short while(7 or 8 seconds if I remember correctly) and that did the trick firming them up. I'm not sure if the oil would help or hurt. I didn't use it in my recipe. I also used eggs but no water, I left some of the egg out and added it as I mixed if the batter was too dry and didn't hold together. I didn't have a scale with me but I landed a 27" and 28" common with them. Good luck.
