Very sad news indeed.
One of the nicest guys I have met through CAG, and I know what he did for others here was a labor of love and he gave his all to others. He was and will be one of the two biggest influences on me getting involved and helping out here years ago. I think of how hard he fought the good fight here, and what he did for others in helping anglers get their start and even during this sadness, thinking of what he did for me and others, and the little time I fished with him, those thoughts do bring a smile because I know I am a better person for having know him.
Condolences to his family, to his friends I share your tears, and God Bless the soul of a truly Good Man.
He has been missed for awhile, but will never be forgotten......God Speed Sam.

He has definitly worked his way into the Advanced Division. As you know it's a whole new game when your trying to put Three (3) big fish on your tally over just one in the Adult/Amature Division.
Good Luck to him and all the other anglers!!!

Thanks to Paul Pezella from Wacker Bait and Tackle for his generous donation to the Dixon Carp Derby's prize list with Several Wacker Main Boxes, some Starter Specimen Kits and a set of Fox Black Label Bobbins/Hangers.
And thanks again to Paul for offering to come out and sign autographs for all his fans (and help weigh fish)

Was out to the Rock on Saturday to drop off posters and check the area out for event pre-conditions.
Water levels are just below average and slower than normal current. Has not been significant rain for awhile. Fish have been biting and Ray at Bunnie's says fishing g has been good. With the slower water the deep spots and main river chanel should be good producers if things stay about the same. You may need to plan for a little mud along the Page Park area....but the low water may leave the small island exposed for fishing from.
TWO WEEKs to go!!!
-
I want to say thanks to Ray Hayes at Bunnie's Bait and Tackle in Dixon has offered a couple prizes for the Derby....make sure you stop by and say hi.

As I had mentioned the Tourism department and the Downtown events committee have added events to the weekend that may be of interest to those of you on the fence about coming out. Those of you with family's may want to bring them.
Saturday on the waterfront in the Downtown there will be Music, vendors, food, Venitian night floats on the Rock River and a fireworks display....
***WARNING***
If they Fireworks are as good as last year you may loose your mind and spend the rest of your life comparing every fireworks display you see to it.....
The few of us there....maybe 30 folks got one heck of a show....
At Lowell Park ( The site of the 2010 Illinois Carp Championship Saturday will be a Free Concert with PATIO DADDY - O
Would suggest bringing you own chairs or blankets. Concert should be over with enough time to get back for fireworks
I will post the hotel list as soon as I get it. And for those wanting to Camp with us at the Page Park, arrangements can be made with a donation to the
Carp Derby Stewards Thank you Funds...
Will post more soon!!!!

Due to the odd weather pattern and history we secured two dates for the event, the event could be moved if there is a safety issue or emergency. As of now these are the dates....
Scheduled dates are:
August 22nd and 23rd 2015
Back Up Date is:
August 29th and 30th, 2015

Does the no chumming rule include pack/method baits or PVA?
If it is attached to your line and your cast is with intent to fish......it's OK
PVA
Method
Pack

why cant we fish to the west of the Peoria street bridge, its been open to fishing ever since you started the tournament and now its not? whats up with that? and did you know that the south side of the river by the dam (river street) is under construction so that limits more area that you fish.JMHO
Actually that's not true.
Last year (2014) that area was not part of the event due to the downtown road construction being staged there. If it is complete and the area safe and open for parking it will be open to the electrical tower as 2010 to 2013.
As with every year and every big event the boundary fluctuate up to the day before the event due weather, water levels, man power, construction and other un-prepared things beyond our control.
Final boundary will be set the day before the event to encompass as much safe bank space as possible....AS ALWAYS.

Larry, If I can do anything as far as being your eyes and ears in Dixon please let me know. 815-213-2129
Thanks Jim. I'll take you up on that.
The Park District is working on some posters and I could use help propping them off around town. I'll know in a couple days when the'll be ready.
-
Due to numerous requests by Loyal CAG members and those I consider friends asking for updates I have re-opened this thread and should have finalized info after the weekend.
With the change in administration in Dixon there will be some prize total changes as the event gets moved trys to become more self supporting, but the format with last year's added Advanced Division will remain.....
I'm looking forward to posting the updates next week.
