Same here. Thanks for stepping up!

Great shots Dave! Some of the higher frame rate action cameras do the same. Just pick the frame you like out of the video you shoot. Of course I have that strapped to my head. Trying to handle a fish and get those shots with an slr is amazing.

I tell him that all the time.

He dedicates much of May to turkeys, but I will ask him.

This will be my first Big 4. I am looking forward to it. Good luck to all that enter.

I agree with most of JohnFinney's post, but find tiger nuts very instant in my neck of the woods.

That is a great video. I have watched it a couple times now, and it doesn't seem to get old. It is nice to have quality carp videos on American waters. I to have considered making the voyage.

Or you could crush up some of the equinox to mix into a pack bait. That would disperse the equinox scent. Add some oats or panko or whatever you like. A can of cream corn probably couldn't hurt. Just my thoughts.

I guess that depends on a few things. First, how highly do you rate them? Second, would be the venue.
Here in the states where most of our fish are considered "Wild" they have to be trained to accept the boilie it seems. But, once they key on that specific flavor it can be an advantage to the fisherman that is using them.

Great explanation Brookesy! I have had to play these games more than once.

Welcome JT! There is so much information on here. As a relatively new carp fisherman, this site offers a ton of knowledge from some great carp fisherman.
My first suggestions would to be to find a swim that is conducive to landing carp, bait it up a bit (corn, sweet feed, boilies....), watch it for a while to see what kind of action is in that location, and then go fish. It is a gratifying process.

I think chum is the biggest difference as well. Anything light is going to get blown out quickly on a river if anywhere near current. I always use heavy leads so that doesn't matter. I also use shorter hooklinks in heavy current. Less chance of getting dragged into snags.
-
I don't know about that. I get some odd looks when I have a shopping cart full of quick oats and cream corn. I usually tell them that I am starting a new no bake cookie company that combines no bakes with vegetables.
-
Prebaiting would definitely help. Try baiting with the boilies that you are using. We have found that the carp are searching for higher calorie baits when the water turns cooler.

Do you even get winter in PA. Haha!
I am with KingKool on this. Nature must run its course.

I would guess that they are scars from spawning. I see the same things, and that is what I have come up with. Hopefully some of the more experienced carpers will shed some light.

You could use a PVA nugget to keep thing straight.

This is the very best part of carp fishing. Grocery stores are everywhere, and there are potential baits in almost every isle.

Very nice as always! Really digging the release picture.

First off, I really like your energy and enthusiasm. Secondly, I would like to offer some suggestions. First off, when fighting the fish place your right hand on the forearm grip (above the reel) this will give you much more control. Secondly, pump and wind. Most of your cranking on that reel was for nothing as you were not gaining on the fish at all. Lastly, carp care is an important aspect of what we do. Do a bit of research and I am sure you will find some good tips.
Thanks for sharing your video and welcome to CAG. Tight lines!

Fantastic trip CarpDaddy!!! Very inspiring. Hopefully I can do half as good as you did in a couple weeks when I go.

Fantastic video guys! Stunning fish!!!

Very nice! I agree, looks like an older fish, look at that head.

That is great! It will be out first trip, but I am sure it will not be our last.

Interesting fish from today. Eye sockets weren't totally sealed. It's eyes seemed intact and could see through smaller aperture.
