  1. Hello everyone!

I just started fishing for carp and I'm ready to purchase a new rod and reel.  I've been reading as much as I can to get oriented to the vast array of gear available and I've narrowed my rod choice down to two:

    1. Shimano Tribal Velocity

    2. Fox Warrior S

I don't fish in very large waters yet but there are a number of larger lakes within travel that I will most likely start to frequent in the future.  I was planning on getting a 2.75lb but it's been suggested that I get a 3lb.  For those of you who have tried both (and I know this can be HIGHLY subjective....),  did you notice a large enough difference that would sway you one way or the other?  From my searching, it will be easy for me to get the Fox in either 2.75 or 3lb; I haven't found the Shimano in 2.75 so I would have to purchase the 3.

As for the reel, I've been looking mostly at Shimano.

    1. Shimano Baitrunner D (not sure which size)

    2. Shimano Thunnus Ci4+ (once again, not sure what size)

    3. Shimano Ultegra

I have zero experience with Daiwa reels but I would consider them as well.  I see they have quite a few models that seem quite comparable to the Shimanos.  Because this venue of fishing is so new to me, I'm really struggling with the route to take.  I don't like buying gear that is cheap because I always end up upgrading very, very quickly and spend more money in the end.  I like to spend more at first on quality gear because in the end, it happens anyway.  Plus, fishing with nicer gear is much more enjoyable in my experience.  Any help in the right direction would be highly, highly appreciated from all of you who have much more experience in carp fishing than I do.  Thanks in advance!
