  8. Does anybody have any tips for catching buffalo on Lake Wylie? I live about 30 minutes from the lake and I fish it for carp all the time. I've caught commons, grass carp, and even a couple mirrors but I have never caught a buff. Does anybody have any tips for buff fishing on Wylie? Location, Bait up technique, bait and rig used? Thanks!
  9. Everybody knows that it can be difficult to target the elusive Buffalo. Does anybody want to share some tips, techniques, rigs, baits etc. to give anglers a better chance at landing more Buffalo?
  10. I have fished hard each weekend for the last three weekends expecting the carp to be on their fall feeding spell but have only landed a few 1-3 pound fish (the smallest I've ever caught and seen from this lake). I'm on a 42 acre lake that I've been fishing for 2 years (using exclusively sweet corn until now by the way). It has tons of different structures and features, deepest spot is 47 feet with most of the lake being 15 feet or more, I've fished from 64 F to 58 F this fall so far, the weather has been from stormy to sunny and everything in between, it doesn't have that many carp in it with
  11. I had thought this was posted earlier in the year, alas, either I didn't post it, or it vaporized, so here it is again ! Colorado 2015 - Master Angler Awards and year end report. The "Highs" 2015 was another good year for catch and release carp fishing here in Colorado. With the aid of the "CAG Colorado Challenge 2015" event, we had a good number of anglers across the state submitting proudly their photo's of carp, released, to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife MA program. Stats remained flat year on year, from 2014 to 2015, with 46 carp being submitted, 41 commons, 5 grass carp f
  12. TightLine Outdoor's, "Don't Bash the Trash" Carp Fishing tournament is a GO for Saturday, July 9th at Lake Arbor in Colorado 2016. This again took tremendous effort from TLO to even get a permit for the event. Honestly, I thought the event would be cancelled. However, permit in hand, the event is a GO, albeit with very little notice for anyone to be able to attend. FINS-UP to TLO and to the local authorities for again making this happen. This is a CATCH & RELEASE carp fishing tournament. It is a $40 entry fee per angler (+ $2 booking free). Payout will be dependent on #s of anglers
  13. Following the previous days session with five 20s from the venue we returned again with Ron to see if we could repeat the success. The weather was insane, with 40+ sustained winds. In the late afternoon the carp bite was ON again and Ron landed a great 20 lb'er! Hope you enjoy! John
  14. The Virginia CAG will be sponsoring a fish-in at the Jefferson Tidal Basin Sat. April 30th all day! We'd love to have any CAG members who want to join us, come along.
  15. Here are the registered teams, up to date. We will be posting new registrations, as they come in. Let us know if you have any questions, and PM Chad ( djkleen02 ) if there are any edits needed.
  16. Each year CAG members step up and volunteer their time to Take a Kid Carping. This is a great event and one that I am very passionate about. A few years ago I was fortunate to be able to take a work colleague, Patrick, and his son Dante carp fishing. Last year it was Casey, Brittany and their young son Brayden. This year it was the turn of Lance and Colin. Filmed during sunny mid-September, I took Lance and his young son Colin out carping for a session at Kingfisher, Chatfield Reservoir. Lance had taken his son, an avid CarpQuest fan, out a few times previously in search of carp - yet the fi
  17. Over the past 4 years, I have worked hard to promote carp fishing here locally in Colorado. The most challenging vs. attitudes, yet positive and productive efforts, have been through the most popular local fishing forum, FishExplorer.COM. The Carp Anglers Group had a presence, though quiet voice, on FXR even before I became the State Chair. I wanted to note my thanks to the owners and moderators of that forum for having the vision, wisdom and "balls" for their of support catch & release carp fishing in our state, especially given the initial hailstorm of negativism I received with my first

  21. Here we go carp fans, it's coffee time again, a new episode of CarpQuest has been released. In this episode we are carp fishing at Chatfield with old friends, Ron and James, and one of my youngest fans, Jordan - what a great smart young kid. Ron and James once again were into the fish with James banking a real nice 17 lb MA common - well done James ! Hope you enjoy the episode as much as I did spending time with friends, albeit on a very windy afternoon. Tight-Lines, John
  22. CALL TO ACTION: The State of Colorado has begun the review process for fishing regulations. NOW is the time for you to complete the survey and put in a good word for Carp Fishing in our state. Whether you would like to see our rod limit increased from 2 to 3, changes in laws regarding the use of PVA bags/mesh, would like to see slot limit and creel limit protection for carp, the formation of "designated trophy carp fisheries at Chatfield, Pueblo and Cherry Creek reservoirs". NOW is the time to make your voice HEARD. So, please take a few minutes from your day to complete the survey (link
  23. A bonus episode of CarpQuest has been released. In this episode we demonstrate what happens when you take a beautiful spring morning, a favorite carp swim, a squadron of National Guard helicopters practicing fire suppression and add them all together. End result - a blank, but with some great footage! People always want to blame the weather for their carping failures, I usually do, but I do feel like I had a valid excuse at least this one time ! Tight-Lines, John CarpQuest
