  10. Each year the Carp Anglers Group puts on an event to "Take a Kid Carping". I truly believe that the youth of today are the anglers of tomorrow. Helping them get started when they are young, teaching them the basics, not just in techniques but also covering topics such as angling etiquette, pickup up their trash and consideration for others, conservation and the environment. No matter how busy my schedule, work, or otherwise, I always make the time each year to Take a Kid Carping ! This year I decided to take James's 10 yr old daughter Olivia, out on a session to Chatfield Reservoir,
  11. I had thought this was posted earlier in the year, alas, either I didn't post it, or it vaporized, so here it is again ! Colorado 2015 - Master Angler Awards and year end report. The "Highs" 2015 was another good year for catch and release carp fishing here in Colorado. With the aid of the "CAG Colorado Challenge 2015" event, we had a good number of anglers across the state submitting proudly their photo's of carp, released, to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife MA program. Stats remained flat year on year, from 2014 to 2015, with 46 carp being submitted, 41 commons, 5 grass carp f

  14. In this weeks new episode of CarpQuest, Andrew Holt and I host an impromptu Carp Anglers Group - Colorado fish-in at Andrew's local lake, the Fairgrounds in Adams County. Though we are the only 2 full CAG members here in Colorado, we fly the flag and do our best to promote catch & release carp fishing to the local masses, spreading the word. The fish-in proved to be remarkable, with almost 20 carp banked between the two of us, including a couple of nice twenties and four carp pushing 18 lb's. Hopefully this video demonstrates that carp truly are the "Worlds Greatest Sportsfish" and t
  15. Each year CAG members step up and volunteer their time to Take a Kid Carping. This is a great event and one that I am very passionate about. A few years ago I was fortunate to be able to take a work colleague, Patrick, and his son Dante carp fishing. Last year it was Casey, Brittany and their young son Brayden. This year it was the turn of Lance and Colin. Filmed during sunny mid-September, I took Lance and his young son Colin out carping for a session at Kingfisher, Chatfield Reservoir. Lance had taken his son, an avid CarpQuest fan, out a few times previously in search of carp - yet the fi
  16. There is a thread from a guy on our Trout Unlimited chapter website about catching a carp on a fly rod. He is from Calhoun, GA where needmotime2fish and I have spent many happy hours fishing for carp. I replied to his latest post and posted a link to the CAG website to see what it's all about. nmt2f, maybe we can get him to join in on our next fishing trip to Calhoun, GA. Hopefully, some of the others on our TU chapter website will look at the CAG link.
  17. After many questions and encouragement from eager carpers, I am happy to announce the unveiling of a new CAG event. Following in the foot steps of the very successful CAG May Big 4, we have now opened up registration for the Fall version. Prizes will be announced shortly. If you thought about packing in the rods for the winter, you may want to hold off, because the fishing and competition will be heating up. So sign up, talk some smack to fellow anglers, and encourage others to sign up and compete as well. Registration is open till November 5th due to the expedited nature of the announceme
  18. Hey guys new to CAG just joined last night. I've been carp fishing since last spring and was referred to this website by one of your members. I live in Macomb Township if anyone knows where that is. Any help with the website or fishing itself would be great. A description of what you guys do here would be great, too. Thanks in advance!
