Went to find some new swims, hoping the historic flooding in KC placed carp in some nearby ponds; some creeks had obviously flooded the ponds but cant find the fish............so, I found a new creek swim and WOW, in just a few hours, I caught 5 carp; 8-11, 11-3, 4-12, 15-11 and a great 17-0!!, some of the prettiest carp I've ever seen-great gold and red color, though none fought as hard as usual-I'm thinking they were fatigued from fighting the flood currents........saw dozens in this swim, which is maybe 100yards long and 20 yards across, but only 6-7 feet deep...........subtle bite techniqu

..............well, had another opportunity to explore some swims this afternoon, and before long, albeit a little slow, caught these 4 commons, three channel catfish and one turtle; all in 2 and one half hours of fishing, just before the rains moved in.....seem to be mostly same age-class fish, as they were all very close in size and weight; one fish much longer than the rest though.............always looking!!! o

It's me again, Margaret. I have a spot that has carp in it. It is a mud bottom and is about 4 feet deep in the creek that flows through it. It is dry during the winter draw-down for TVA and is off the main Hiwassee River. I'll admit that it is a while since I have been there; seven miles from home- no excuse. I have seen carp cruising in it. Would it be worth baiting with boiled corn for two or three days and then fishing it? I could use my smaller rod with a baitrunner on it. Your help/advice is appreciated. I can't draw a map as I have a very short memory at my age.

The last couple of weeks have been hectic as I'm getting the house ready for new carpet. Painting, removing the old carpet, shuffling furniture around the house, etc. have taken all my time. Missed opening day of turkey season but still time left. Spring is when a guy's thoughts turn to..................CARP! What else is there? I noticed that TVA is raising the lake levels which means carp will be moving into the shallows to spawn. Also, dry areas are now places that are easy to access for carp. Have to take inventory and get my stuff ready to bait a couple of swims close to home. Als
