Results -- June 23, 2013 Windy City Carp League Tournament Eighteen anglers arrived at 6:00 a.m. at Chicago’s Diversey Harbor on Sunday, June 23 for a summer session of Tracy Jourdan's Windy City Carp League. We were happy to see some of the “old guard” participating as Paul Wells and Skip Orenstein were among the entrants. It was a hot day, temperature-wise, but not quite as bad as the forecast for 90 degrees. With the event being held in June, the venue had a few more difficult weeds than usual, and some pegs just didn’t contain fish. In addition, the warm weather and the festive spirit of the city as the result of the Blackhawks getting close to a Stanley Cup championship had pleasure boats constantly in and out of the harbor. We probably had more lost rigs due to boat hangups as opposed to fish hangups. Most carp were caught on the south end of the venue. If one does the actual calculations, there were probably more runs lost than fish caught. Sharp-edged docks, boat propellers, and grabbing weeds had most of us losing more fish than we caught. After the nine hour session, Cory Bohmann was named tournament champion with six or seven fish and 83+ pounds. Frank Rink managed second place with four fish and 57+ pounds. Daniel Szorc was also in the money with a third place finish and and two or three fish weighing in at 35+ pounds. Adam Krysiak captured the big fish and related big fish pot with a 19+. Tracy Jourdan had a nice 16-13 near the end of the day, and I hope he will post more pics and information when he gets the time. Thanks to the 18 anglers who attended. –F. Rink If anyone has additional pics, please post here. This is all I had.--Frank Tracy's 16-13 2nd place winner Frank Rink with a 16-3 This was a day when a lucky peg draw wasn't enough. Lack of skill had Frank Rink losing lots of fish, although he did manage this 15-14.
