  1. Hi all!! Hope everyone is safe and healthy-goes for families too :)). I thought there would be more fisherman out, but its deserted around here. Any way, been fishin- and yesterday was great!. These two commons within the first hour, then lost 3 straight fish before these two beauties- a 6lb golden ghost and an 8.75lb "whiter" ghost. These fish "glow"/shimer" in the water. This spot has produced 5 additional ghosts, plus a couple mirrors and lots of 6-10lb commons. GO FISHING!- it will give you some solace-now more than ever!... Try as I might, I couldn't cacth Covid though and hopefully none of you do!!! Stay healthy! MO
  2. Nothing spectacular, and most were smallish, but still a lot of fun!.....the first 5 last Sunday and the last 2 yesterday...........trying some new sites tomorrow or Monday!....... MO PS- it's been suggested I use a flash for these, but.........no-one wants to see the same mug over and over....
  3. So, the Kansas City Chiefs won the superbowl!!......I guess I misread the newspaper reports cause I thought it said in celebration fans should go fishing. .... ...... So I did ๐Ÿ˜† The weather started very warm-low 60s but within 3 hours it had dropped nearly 20 degrees!. I modified my subtle bite technique by using 15g NGT leads with strawberry pack bait and double fake corn floating hair rig and placed rods on my pods but with no bite alarms- you have to constantly watch the rods but you catch more fish!......I caught these two commons, then hooked a very slow large fish and it was the most beautiful picture when it rose to the surface!!!... My first linear mirror from a creek!- then the fun began as the fish gained power and surged back and forth but eventually wore out and I landed this 13-7 29" beauty!!!.... follow that up with 3 more commons; two which had malformed mouths, one with an old wound to the side- I had had a great celebratory day!. I was surprised there were no other chiefs fans fishing-even though many had taken yesterday off!!????..... Go creekin!- the fish are always there!!.......... ๐Ÿ˜™ MO
  4. Nice weather the past two days so I took a couple hours yesterday and today to creek it and low and behold, the last fish of today was this beautiful ghost hybrid! You can see the pattern on the head...unfortunately these are the only two pictures because my phone died!!!.....and on top of that-forgot my hat today!!!......I'm tellin-ya- go creekin!- they are always there!!! MO
  5. Hit the creek today, tryin to prep for the FFF, and had these two, a great golden 16-8 and a darker 10-0 and lost another. Very soft bites and slow fight but beautifully fat fish!!..........good fishin all!- go to the creeks- the fish are always there!! MO
  6. Hi all!!!..... Well after a short trout trip in Utah (grayling, brook, rainbow, cutthroat and browns), came back to creekin-new spot, and less than 15 minutes, had 3, lost 1, then constant action for the next 2 hours!!! AND 3 DOUBLES (only took 2 rods)....biggest was 12-2!!! I've never been skunked in the creeks that I can remember, so if your sittin there reading this or looking out your window, GET TO THE CREEKS and CARP!!!....Life's too short!! Sorry if the videos don't come through!! IMG_0771.MOV IMG_0919.MOV IMG_0919.MOV
  7. Well............I'm hearing crickets on the forum all!!.............just cause the Big Four is over, doesn't mean the carp get a respite eh?........Today I braved the 94 degree, 100 degree heat index to get some creek carp and, yep, they were there!!...... In 6 minutes, I caught 4 fish; one carp within 30 seconds, then another 3 minutes later, then two channel cats three minutes apart, and wound up with 7 fish altogether- 5 carp and 2 channel cats-lost two more hits in 40 minutes. All on either strawberry or lemon pack on 8lb test with super ultra light rods- the hits barely make the alarms trip and it was non-stop. All in a new spot-I never made it to one of my favorite holes!!..........glad I took some lemonade!!!...........Go to the creeks all- the action is non-stop!!! Though small, they fought like 10-12lbrs on light drag!!!!......so much fun!!!.............MO carpin set up creek.MOV
  8. Hey all!!! Well after zeroing out at multiple local lakes, I got my groove back in the creeks!!!. In just about 5 hours, I caught 7 carp...more like what I'm used to!!......subtle bite worked wonders on straight sweet corn for four fish and 10g method lead with panko and hair rig for the others, but also hooked on subtle bite for 2/3 of them-one did actually run!!...It had rained this morning, not flooding the creeks, but making the creek murky and likely the carp were less shy......the 10lbr ran up and down the creek for 10 minutes before being able to land him! After a disappointing weekend, in which I caught NO CARP, I needed my fix and it helped lift my spirits and confirm my corn, pack bait and technique still works!!....to heck with lakes, eh?.......so 5-10, 2-10, 6-10, 8-8, 9-0, 2-8, and 10lbr!....the 9lbr appeared to be a pre spawn female, and is the darkest carp I ever caught!. I had seen her against the opposite bank with her back out of the water-I'm assuming she did this routinely and simply got her tan on for spring break!!........good luck all!!
  9. Hello gang!! Fresh off my trial FFF run at midnight Saturday, I had the afternoon to fish in 35mph winds........which gravitated me back to the creeks. I usually use a subtle bite technique, but am trying hair rigs....just fearful of losing lots in the rocks......anywho, one pole had a panko/corn/birdseed/strawberry method feeder with 1 fake pop-up corn, one pole had a method feeder with 2 fake pop-up corn, and one pole was simply a sliding sinker above a #6 Korda krank hook.....and.......... 3 carp in 90 minutes, 6-8, 8-4, and 7-4...with no other hits/hook pulls, etc...there were 2 carp on the two-corn pop-up rig, and one, just as I was packing up, on the subtle bite rig- that fish fought for 10 minutes, up and down the creek, back and forth!- very exciting!!. had to get a face shot of that one as well!!!!....all pretty dark fish, and holing up in less then 8 feet of water in a creek no more than 30-40 feet across.........Can't say which rig won, cause it was biased with two hair rig poles.....but.............. prepping for FFF and ATC!!!..........
  10. So....just before the rain ( again!) I fished my new swim- caught 4 channels up to 4lbs, lost a carp in a snag-hook pull, then caught this 12-14, but as I walked to the creek I found one pond had been flooded with carp- dozens at the surface gulping.......near dark I went to the pond and caught another channel immediately, landed this 7-4 and lost TWO more carp to straight hook pulls!.....Hadn't had that many carp in a session get away!!.........I usually change line ties every 3rd fish and hooks when they dull but these seemed ok...............waiting for the rains to stop- no creek fishing for a bit- switching to lakes!........
  11. What a day today!.....62F, so took my son ( a CAG member too!) fishin about 8 minutes away-just a creek next to a grocery store, though no one fishes it for carp).......well....with the subtle bite technique we caught 7 carp; 55lbs 6oz.....in 3 hours.....none of these flip-flopped fought!- all made several runs.............that makes 17 carp for January, including my two FFF, for 107lbs 11oz!!- for a 6.29lb average!!..............Never would have guessed it!-thanks in part to all the CAG members for sharing all their expertise.........was going to a large lake, but too windy, and viola!-fishes!!!!!....Cant wait til it warms up!!! ....................sometimes ya just gotta go fish!!!.......keeps your sanity!!!!!..................good luck and skill all!!!....On to February!!
