  1. Nice scatter scale mirror there Gary, try not to hold them through the gill slits though as this kills them

just cought me in a odd handeling pose no abuse to that beauty

marcus, didn't you read what he posted!! He said he knew that wasn't the way to handle the fish, He knew he would catch flack, I think he was converted before he posted that photo. So you are preaching to the saved.

  2. I'm sitting here making hair rigs for the weekend, and I just had a question: why do some hooks have inward facing eyes or just flat eyes? If I recall, the inturned eye ones are best for hair rigs. Is that correct? Why is that? When are the flat eyes most appropriate?

Sarah it depends on the hook, as long as the line from your knot, comes out on the hook bend side, the theory is that inturned eyes increase hookup in the fish, because of the angle of the line coming through the eye, helping the dig in of the hook. If your line came out of the eye away from the bend, it would tend to pull the eye of the hook torward the point of the hook, when the line tightend and the point of the hook may skid instead of sticking.

  3. Congrats on the Fish!  I too am eagerly awaiting my first carp using Jim's bread punch.  I've been field testing the punched bread on a hair in a 5 gal tank.  The punched out bread floats (aka popped-up bread).  Now I'm probably not the sharpest tack in the box, but is this how it supposed to work.  How do I get it to sink...wet it? :D  :D

    :D

Sweet corn like Kidcarp said if you compress it with the plunger while the bread is still in the punch, press hard, then push it out of the punch with the plunger, and if you use soft bread like Wonder bread as fresh as you can get it then it will sink.

You want to get as much air out of the bread as you can.
