Carolyn and I went fishing for the first time this year last Friday. The weather was to be rain free for two days, so we went Friday just in case the weatherman was lying LOL They have been calling for rain for weeks on end. anyhow Carolyn was using green worms, and started the day off with a gar then later a nice carp, and then a small sucker all on the green worms. I filled in with carp and buffalo. All together we caught 11 fish on this our first trip of the year,

I have never fished a pay lake, but by trashing CAG members who are pay lakers with the same brush as the one pay lake this thread is about. Should make you ashamed!!
CAG was not started to put people down, it was started for fellowship in carp fishing. And I 'm ashamed of this thread, and I think the founders of CAG would be also.

This is for any ex military, senior citizens, patriotics, or just fans of The OAK RIDGE BOYS.

I was hoping they would work as well as corn, I wonder if now I need to use tofu as a hook bait. LOL
I use my chum up in two or three days of repairing it so that is no problem, most fishing trips are on short notice. And through the week to avoid the weekend crowd.

The farmer I get corn from planted soybeans last year, so thats why I asked. Free chum is nice. LOL
-
I remember an article about catfishermen using soybeans to chum with. I wonder how they would work for carp? Has anyone ever used them?

A few years ago I bought all the square cotton seed blocks the bait shops had. Later when I wanted more, all I found were pellets and very few of them. So I called the bait company and they told me that the supplier of the manhole shaped pressed cakes that they used to get to make the square baits were scraped . The cotton seed oil producer went to using pellet machines, so that's all they could get for the cotton seed baits. I asked if I could order some of the pellets and they said yes, so I ordered 200 pounds.
PS They are all gone and I don't remember the bait companies name, so you will need to search for it.

Bird I would be a runner for you, and push you in a wheelchair, but as i'm going blind and can't drive you would need to drive me from IL. to the ATC and back after.
Well fat chance of that, unless I win the lotto, and fat chance of that too.
I bet a lot of members would like to attend the ATC but can't for handicaps or other reasons.

I wish to thank my brother Dan for taking the video and Willem for adding the music to the video.
The time covered by the shooting was an hour and 2o minutes. Dan used a Gopro hero 2 camera set to 2 seconds. Then added the titles and slowed parts in editing.

Thanks guys, it's always fun to get out to fish and catch fish. That spot has never let us down so far.

This is of the first four fish we caught that day, before the camera ran out.

My brother told me the go pro time lapse video came out OK, he's going to put titles on the footage then get it on you tube and then I'll post it on CAG.
Thanks guys
Carolyn and I hope to get out some more this year.

It was raining a bit as we left home to set up to fish on the Rock river. We set up as we did, it stopped raining, After a bit my brother showed up to set up his Go pro camera for some time lapse photos of the action, I had a run before he started the camera. As we were netting that one; my other rod went off with a run. I had Ruth Ann hold that rod as I went back to land the first fish. Then, as I started back to the other rod, Carolyn had a run, but she lost it at the bank before I could get over to land it for her. After that, things went quiet for an hour or so. As my brother came back to check the camera, I had a run, we landed that one just as the camera ran out of memory. After that he used my camera to catch me landing fish for Carolyn. later just before Ruth Ann came back from shopping Carolyn caught a grass carp. we had eight fish for the day, we packed up around two PM to head home.
PS . I posted one of the photos twice.

Another good day on the Rock River. Why not just fish until the rush hour traffic has fizzled out? Then.........go home.
Grahame had 94 miles to drive home.

Nice, Jim. Hope you didn't drop that third fish from the bottom.
Your hope came true on that one, I did catch him.

Today we fished the first time after the flood. A tree had washed up on the lower concrete slab, but we can walk around it to land fish. Graham came to fish with us, and landed 7 or 8 carp. I landed 4 carp, Carolyn played net girl today as the fish didn't hit her bait the whole time we fished today.
