The water is down to normal level in the river today, and the fish where working our buzzers right along. After fish number eight Carolyn was unhooking the fish and it flopped sending the hook into her finger, so that ended the fishing for the day. next stop the hospital to have the hook removed, the hook was deep to the curve, but came out without much trouble, as I had broke the barb off by accident when fixing a bent hook on the last fish I had caught.

There are two motels and a restaurant within a block of where we fish, so to use the words of the old captain "come see us"

Our fishing spot has flooded three times this year. But today we made it as the water is finally down enough for us to get on the bank, without wadding in a foot of water and mud. So our first fishing trip of the year started kind of slow, but picked up as the day pasted. we ended up with 17 fish in the 6 hours we were out.

Nice to see you got some fish, it hasn't been the same around here since you went home.

When I need a knot other than the knotless knot I use the Fish n fool knot. with my bad eyesight and big thumbs I find it's easier for me to tie.

We held a Carp-in on the Rock river today, and the rain came so the turnout was down. But a few of us stuck it out. What a day after most left the rain let up a bit. Fred Rhodes and Eddy Cobb set up and started fishing. Fred landed two or three carp, I didn't get photos of his fish as I had my own to land. The wind came up strong at 1:30 so we packed up and went home, Fred and Eddy left to go to Farm & fleet to buy some calf manna then head for home.

Willem, my eyes have gotten to the point that the state said that I can't drive so they gave me a state ID card. Carolyn's car is not in the best of shape so we stick around home to fish.
Cory, I'm using a steelhead rod and a feeder rod the one with three tips I don't remember the brand off hand.

With "Where I Fish.com" I had a Carp-in last Sunday. I showed how to catch carp and buffalo with hair rigs and feeders. after the fun and the catfish fry was over and the others had left a man and his wife came over to see what was going on and to fish there rods were rigged with hook, split shot and bobber's. I rigged his wife's rod with a hair rig and feeder and cast it out and told her to hold on then started to rig his rod when she had a run it was a 7 pounder the biggest fish of her life. I'm doing what I can to turn people on to Carp fishing close to home as I can't drive any more.
Here''s a post with a slideshow of the event.

Thank you all, The first fish of the day was a bigmouth buffalo, only the second one I've caught at this spot.

Geez, that is an amazing haul indeed! Well done, Jim. Does Carolyn have a secret bait recipe of sorts?
She used to use worms, but I won her over to tiger nuts and a feeder rig.

Carolyn and I went fishing last Saturday, but we blanked after chumming the swim.
Today we went and set up in the same swim, we took Mickey along this time after I took his photo in my old jeans laying on the couch before we left for the river..Soon after setting up, the buzzers went crazy with five runs in the first hour. and the last three came in the last two hours of the three hours we fished.
Fishing cut short today.

Yes, a tetanus shot in the arm and two pain killers in the finger, she said the one in the arm was the worst.
