Today as we were setting up to fish our spot a homeless lady came over from the bench where she had been sleeping and as Carolyn was parking the car she ask me ask for two cigarettes. I gave then to her and she went back to the bench. We got into fish right off the bat, run after run we banked 18 of them today. we had company off and on all day, three city workers who looked over our fishing gear and wanted to know where I got the buzzers and bank sticks. One guy from Denmark who also wanted to know about my gear. and one guy from WI. stopped and talked about my gear, I handed out CAG cards to all of them. All but the guys working on the bridge who shouted when we had a screaming run. And the homeless lady who stayed all day and changed outfits and washed up in the restroom.

That is a great day of fishing. When I come back to Iowa next year I will look you up so you can show me how to fish on the Iowa side. Great pics.
Jeff
Thank you guys, the carp run small at the spot close to my house But catching small carp is better than not fishing at all. Besides the smaller one put up the best fight.
Jeff yes let me know when you are coming and I'll see what we can do about putting you on some fish.
And franklin when Craig gets tired of you catching all the fish, you are welcome to come fish with me and Carolyn.

Thanks guys we needed the time away from house work. today we are painting the foundation and doing some caulking . I got the fire damage fixed in the shop, but still haven't done the wiring yet so I don't have power in the shop. It's hard to be doing the work when the fish are calling me.
PS. If you look at the photo of Carolyn with the catfish you can see the feeder I made out of some hair rollers. She uses my chum in the feeder and baits with worms on the hook.

Looks like a nice little spot you have there Mickey, well done on the catches, I am still unable to fish due to this darn texas heat wave.
I can feel for you it was only 86 here and we had to quit as the heat was getting to us.

Went fishing at the rock river this morning, after we set up and caught the first carp we had some people stop by to look at the fish. It turned out they where from Canada in town for a baseball game a bus load of them. And sure enough we didn't get a run while they were there, didn't get any runs till after they left. Carolyn got a run but didn't get to it in time the rod landed about 10 foot out in the river (drag set too tight) but luck was on her side I reeled my rod in intending to cast for her rod and I caught her line as I was reeling in, so her rod wasn't in the water long.LOL The sun and the heat got to us so we picked up and went home after 10 fish.

I think it's a bigmouth buffalo.

We braved the heat and went fishing at our spot on the Rock River 9 blocks from the house. We caught 16 fish in 4 hours before the heat drove us home. anyhow as Carolyn was getting a run a boat pulled in to the mouth of a creek just to our left and watched Carolyn land the fish. the guy in the boat was the owner of a local fishing website, and that he would like to film us catching carp some time as he saw it was nonstop action. here are a few photos

Mickey,
Did they catch that drum on carp bait?
Phone
PS: Get ready, we're sending some 100 degree weather your way.
It looks like a smallmouth buffalo to me. I have caught lots of drum and I know it's not a drum. It was caught on a lobworm with chum in a hair curler feeder.

Great times and great pictures!
...how do you get the wife to come with you?
Simple, she's the one who takes me fishing. I caught a good one with her, she likes to fish as much as I do.

That concrete slab right over the river looks perfect for me, where exactly is that?
Moline, IL. on the North shore, about four blocks from the quad city airport and 74 and 280. Yes you could roll right up on there. it's too bad you don't live closer.

By the way I used the feeder rod I just bought from the trading post and a Shakespeare LX IV spinning reel that I found on the bank about six years ago. I remembered the post from RI so I used a rope to the handle of the rod and it was a good thing I did, or I wouldn't have the rod and reel now Because almost every run pulled the rod off the buzzer and bank stick.

It looks like you guys had a great time.... I see a rod with a closed face reel was Phone fishing with you using his zebcos again? lol
That was Carolyn's rod I'm getting her to use a bait feeder reel and a steel head rod next time we go fishing. Maybe I'll get her used to the longer rods some how

Nice haul. Is it common for the buffs to move in after the carp?
The carp hit first then, the buffalo hit, then the carp started hitting again. this is the first time I caught buffalo at this spot. It might have been that I had cast further than when I caught the carp is the only thing I could think of or it might have been the chum I was using. All fish came on tiger nuts except the sunfish. I was using steam rolled corn and calf manna on feeders.
