  1. you spend all day hooking baby commons when everyone's around then just happen to turn up with a couple of crackers when only Alex is there (who is about to move out of state I should add) I think I got your game Sprinkle

Second one is definitely a mirror, the first looks to have big linear plates but with a common scale pattern - possibly the most bizarre looking carp I've seen, what'd'she weigh?

  2. Nice writing Scott, to some people it would be interesting to know what goes in to this flavour and for the compounds to be broken down to better understand their component parts to see if there is something you've hit upon in the additives, for most it would be dismissed as rubbish as carp feed on whatever they find but coming at it from a scientific point of view can help you acheive better results as you've amply demonstrated!

  3. I think they are plain old common carp from pretty clear water that haven't gotten enough sun yet this year. Especially if that is all you are catching out of this venue.

I think they are plain old commons too. When carp have been holed up in deep and/or merky water they get lighter in colour, as they move in to the shallows as the water warms they get their golden colour, if they are present in clear shallow water for a period of time they go chocolate brown, same with mirrors

  4. There are few circumstances when a plural of carp is carp's, only carps' is acceptable and even then only rarely as in "the carps' diet, consists of mainly molluscs and small invertibrates" :yourock:

Great to see you out Kev, I understand MI has had a HARD winter this year

  5. oi oi folks, lees the name, been in yanksville connecticut for just over two years now, married a yank bird and moved from east london.

Fackin satherners get everywhere, pity the poor folks in CT - had any communication issues

  6. I was over on the St Lawrence when steve and rob were there staying at Riverview, me and Jeff went for a drive at 5am as we did every morning to spot the showing fish, after half an hour or so we found them on Hollywood Bay (named after this episode!) one we'd never fished before - so set up quickly and were in to one after about 30 seconds. After a bit of back slapping and preparation for a long day ahead of hauling Steve and Rob came down and collared Jeff on the way back from the car. Jeff relayed to me that they had baited the swim the day before and never expected it to be taken the following day as it certainly wasn't a known swim. I headed back to them and asked them what the sketch was and they grumbled that they'd baited heavily the night before and had a diver and camera crew booked later that day to do some filming underwater and why did we think it was ok to spy on them and jump in their swim early doors

After taking several moments to calm myself I politely informed them that we did no such thing and as dedicated anglers were out early to watch the dawn splosh and it so happened we wound up where they had baited. I then said that we were happy to move considering so much time had been put in to this spot and that we weren't unreasonable guys but was suprised at the sulky expression and that they could have been a bit more friendly! Anyway, after they realised they'd get their swim back they were all fine and pointed us to a spot half a mile away they'd dropped 20k of bait in to as a back up swim should the prime swim not perform.

We ended up in that other spot and have fished it several times since and it's been another great find and a gorgeous place to fish. Incidentally this series was filmed for Sky Sports in the UK in 2006. Steve and Rob were about to hit Lake Ontario and had a chopper booked to whisk them off to some remote islands in the lake to fish, they were particularly excited about that :yourock: Great series and one worth watching

This is a pic of Hollywood Bay and our 'back up' swim 3/4 of the way round
