  1. A final word, Phonebush, the carp were A) shot and left on a Farmers land near his cattle in bear country. B)I am glad I posted this because I never even thought of putting this kinda thing in the newspaper so it did some good to post this here and I got a few good ideas thanks to the members. I know it's a touchy situation, and yes it was My favorite swim, I also agree that our law allows bow fishing and it won't be changed. I also know the entire army would be out after the hunters should there have been a walleye or trophy pike in the area with a hole through it. Proper action will be taken and I am divided about posting such a thing. I appreciate the feedback and the care of the members also the help in a proper way to handle this.

      Thanks to all who helped.

As for Phonebush, that was mean and uncalled for, I am not sure why someone who seems to have so much experience with carp angling as a sport and having been on this board for so long would want to belittle a new member like Myself or really what I may have posted to offend you in a way that you could post this,"The nivativaty(sp) of this group slays me sometimes.  I admonish you as hypocrits and want you to know if Oxie didn't set you up he did a damn good impersonation of doing so."

But whatever I may have done to upset you let me say that I am sorry for it. Please feel free to PM me so I can apologize for the direct incident if there was one.

Thanks This issue is now close IMO.

    What a pity man!

Barbaric! That's all I have to say!

And Phone, with all due respect, what kind of arguments are those?

    Once again you disappoint me...

  4. Hello everyone my name is Felisha. I'm another from the clan of Massholes. My boyfriend Corey got me into carp fishing thanks to his brother Lance inspiring him. I've had pleasures in meeting other anglers like Jerome,Domm, and Scott. I'm looking forward to smash my PB of 9lbs to 20 - 30lbs this year.  :D

Good luck to all and I'll look forward to meeting you all in future venues.

    Fifi

How about me Felisha? You met me also, rememeber...??? :D:D

Hey, welcome aboard! It will be refreshing to have a lady angler join us...to cool off the machismos...

    -Marius

Hey guess what? Fifi was my nickname back in middle school! That's odd...

  5. Welcome! We are the few, the proud, the carp anglers...

We are so lucky to live in a country where very few people are wise enough to seek this great fish! So by all means, give it a try! You'll love it. I started with a bobber and a pole made out of reeds many years ago. Since then, I got wiser and realized that a baitrunner reel was a must along with a 9-ft Ugly Stick and sweet corn on the hook. The advice I can give you is to search this site for info, ask questions, loosen your reel drag, chum often, and be stealthy and patient when fishing for carp.

    Best of luck!

  6. GREAT STORY LOUIS!

    GREAT PICS!

Thanks for taking the time to document your experience.

You moved spots and that was a great decision. I was too stubborn, I guess...Mark my words, next time I go to Town Lake I will fish at "The Rocks" again....

And once again, great times were had in Austin...

    Thanks Louis!

    Thanks ACS!

    Thanks CAG!

  7. Marius,

Nice Lumpah, since you havent unpacked you must hav a wonerfull scent of carp leaking from your luggage.

Yeah, that was a hard fighting wild carp.

It came at 7:45 AM and I was convinced the action would continue at Peg. 44 that day.

But it did not...and that ended up being the last fish of the ATC. Nontheless it moved our team up a few spots.

  8. Hi All -

I've made one update to the tally for the top ten places.  Marius handed in the scorecard for Marius/Sommerville Day 2 at the awards banquet.  They had in fact managed to land a single fish of 21 lb 8 oz on the 2nd day.  Effectively this bumped them from 6th to 5th, missing 4th place by a single ounce!

Here again are the final standings.

    10th Place---Karl / Rob---5 fish weighing 127.43

    9thPlace---BAER/Koening------6 fish weighing 142 pounds

    8th Place--- Settele / Collins----8 Fish weighing 150.75

    7th Place--- Davenport / Graham---8 fish weighing 164.93

    6th Place---Jim S./ Paul D.---9 fish weighing 183.81

    5th Place---Sommerville/ Albota---13 fish weighing 187.313

    4th Place---Paul P / Mirek M---9 fish weighing 187.375

    3rd Place---the BATES BROTHERS--14 fish Weighing 227.75

    2nd Place---Colin / Tom---19 fish weighing 284.87

    1st Place--- THE OSMONDS--21 Fish Weighing 427.87 :D

Here is that fish from lousy Peg 44.

Not that it really matters but, if I recall correctly, it was 21 lb 10 oz.

It was great seeing everybody in Texas. A true pleasure!

More pics and stories later. I have yet to unpack!

  9. I've left extra bait and personal items in the room while out fishing.  I would recommend taking or checking anything really valuable at the front desk.  I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving a DVD camera or PC in the room for example.  But clothes, bait, raingear, etc has never been a problem in the past.

    Hmm..thanks Brian - I was thinking of bringing my laptop...perhaps I won't...

  10. If you want to be included on a cell phone #list for the ATC  email me at customtailor@aol.com  and i will add you to the list .  List will be printed at noon tomorrow

list will be printed  and available at the corn boil for all those who want to check on their pals during the event.

Tomorrow at noon I will be flying over Chicago. Any chance you you distribute it earlier, at least a preliminary list.

    Thanks,

    Marius

  11. What kind of boilies???

I'm arriving 3:30pm, pu a car and collecting my partner (Mike D) about 5pm.

If your still there give me a shout on my cell.

I am arriving 3:05PM tomorrow (that is Wednesday) on American through Chicago. I'll send you a PM Fran.

    -Marius

PS Thanks for the shuttle info Domm!

  12. Marius:

I tried to warn you procrastinators ...

Yep Fran, that would be me :D

Rods -- will travel with me.

Stuff -- Priority Mail in a flat rate box is $8.10 for delivery in 3 days. You'd be amazed how much I was able to pack inside one of those boxes -- it pisses the post-office folk off but what do I care :D

Ciao -- see you all in Austin.

Anybody getting to Austin airport Wednesday in the PM?

It turns out that I need a ride to the hotel -- will pay in $ or boilies

    -Marius
