Last xmas when i popped home i put on 10lb in 9 days :D

  2. Bergenfield NJ , near the Passaic River

The passaic at the bottom of my road has shoals of carp in 2ft or less of water you would need waders unless you roll cast good, also another good spot is Seeleys pond in berkley heights also has a river run into it.Thats the spots that i will be trying out the fly rod on this year :D

One other spot that has pretty good bankside casting space is briant park in summit this has lots of carp to low doubles might be worth a try.

  3. Hey guys I am an avid fly fisherman who last year caught golden bones who where very cautious and wily carp. I was wondering if anyone knows where there are other places with large carp on the flats ( 1-4 feet of water) , if anyone is willing to let me know a spot in northern NJ I will gladly share a spot with them in return.

    The Rook

I know a couple of places local to me that would fullfil that,Both you would need waders as there is a lot of bankside bush's,an ability to roll cast would be an advantage.Where abouts in NJ are you??Im in summit(central NJ)

  4. This cannot be real- can it??????????????????????????????????

Got to be fake ,it seems way to quick to get something off the production line ,or maybe they worked 27-7 to get on the band wagon.......I would buy one and she could stand guard over the fox eos's for me :D

  5. OK imagine you are on the M25 about to go through the tunnel from Kent to Essex, take the very last exit before the tunnel, turn right and you go to Cotton Farm, left and you see the power station on your right, between the road and the power station is a lake, that's the one (has no official name). Lots and lots (like in the hundreds) of low to mid doubles and about 30 20lb+ fish including 3 or 4 orver 30lb. If you have Google Earth the co-ordinates are 51.27' 27.73" North, 0.14' 16.43" East

Dartford (DDAPS) is the exit before and down the hill to the left, Darenth is also the exit before but turn right and back track about 3-4 miles to where Bob Morris's shop is then over the hill to the lakes. Dartford Sutton is another 2 to 3 miles back again and Leisure Sport Sutton another mile on, last in the chain of lakes is Horton Kirby.

Yeah i know them lakes you can see them when you crest the bridge on the way into the kent side from Essex. How funny is that.........that there is another fella who fished them Lakes :D ..Looks like the lake wasnt so secret after all hehehehe.Keith whereabouts did you live i came from Lee ,london

  6. Good days them ones mate, still makes me laugh when i think about that, shame too that they built bloody bluewater over the top of them lakes although i think that the 1st lake is still there next to the main parking lot at Bluewater. :D

One day mate i'll make it down to texas for a session :D

  7. Yep you got it ,as the carp roots around in the silt/sand/mud it disturbs the trapped gases .Be careful though because not all bubble erruptions are caused by carp,if you notice that the bubbles are moving then you know its either a carp,a snapping turtle or some other fish.Back in england we dont have the snapping turtle problem so when you get bubbles its either carp/tench or bream. It can be a good way of stalking the carp because they are already feeding :D

  8. Pete,

Nice write-up with some lovely looking fish. I'm wondering, what you are calling "ghosties", is that what we are calling "Isrealie carp". I can honestly say I cannot identify a "ghostie" if we even have them here in the US. Somehow I thought ghosties were all white koi.

Does anyone know, do we have "ghosties" other than white koi?

    Phone

Ghosties are a cross between a normal carp and a koi,On top of the head they generally have what looks like a white skull, and are generally more whitish in color.

Nice fish peter makes me miss wylands farm in battle, used to love hitting the far bank with the pole.

  9. Kernal ,i loved fishing below the weir at warwick castle, also loved fishing the avon at twyford farm.

One thing that strikes me on these forums is the amount of Brits,i do miss trotting down a nice river be it the Mole, medway, cray, avon severn wondering what you will hook next when the float dips :D

By the way Super that's a stunning back drop to be fluff flinging against

  10. i was gonna say that it was a wild goldfish, there tails always look to big for there body ,but stunted crucians look the same .Paul's spot on though with the scale count, nice fancy goldfish for you. I used to fish a very small pond at white foot lane in Downham south London and that was full of those wild gold fish, somtimes the tail would be bigger than the length of the fish. But they all looked the same as a crucian until you did a scale count.

Hey texas i loved them days of crucian and tench bashing on milton lake at old buryhill, used watch Andy froth the water up with his waggler skills.Them was the days :D

Nice fish though would love to hit a shoal of those
